the L stands for Long wheelbase right? Look at that rear legroom!

I don't think I could own one of these and not pay someone to drive whilst I looked down on the world from the rear seats
It does, but you need an L7 for that really:

Both look great, proper engines too.

I think the seats in the E39 are called 'Contour' though? Comfort backs with sport bottoms?
E38 right?

Anyway I think you may be right. That post did raise a question with me as my E38 has comfort seats (afaik) and it has the adjustable shoulder and lumbar support but not the extendable thigh pad on the base.
I think you are right, according to my point of reference (Meeknet) the seats are called 'Contour' not 'Comfort', my mistake.

Details here; http://www.meeknet.co.uk/E38/bmw_e38_buying_guide....

Sorry, E38

But yes exactly that, I also have Comforts in my 540i and they don't have the extendable leg bit.

Gave the old boat a wash today then a run over with my new meguiars clay bar I got for Christmas, planning to get up earlyish tomorrow and use the G220 to put some polish/wax on it. Driving to Paris in it on 30th December and looking forward to the drive. A recent fill up from empty took 94 litres and £126 to fill it up which is less enjoyable.

Neither have I, suspect they are very rare.
