I've just sat and read this entire thread from start to finish, what an absolute roller coaster ride of emotions, two things stand out for me, firstly that you must have an incredibly understanding wife, secondly when the going got tough and you were down, you picked yourself up and continued, i'd like to think your dad would be so proud of you!

Not a dig at you at all - please don't think I'm not rooting for you 100%. Some cars make themselves hard to love but hard to get rid of. I had a Caterham like that. Well done on the MOT.

No worries at all smile

I still need to figure out how to get better seat belts into the TC so that the family can join me on a trip.

She's been very patient with it, the fact that I have it in storage most of the time and so not taking up a space on the driveway helps a ton. The benefits of a separate joint accounts means that what I spend on it is mine to decide.

With the weather turning, and concerns about a future lockdown causing problems I've made the decision to drop the car back to the storage place earlier than planned.

Driving it in the rain was...interesting, wheel spinned the tyres more than once but luckily the back end didn't kick out. I dread to think what would happen considering how disconnected the steering feels!

I'm happy with the progress of this year, I need to turn my attention to the interior at some point in 2021 and maybe finally get that explorer intake and 70mm throttle body fitted.

I'll grab the car in March.

Such a great thread, Linc. The first post was very memorable.

Glad you've got through the issues! Covid certainly made 2020 a bit of a muted year for car ownership, but let's hope 2021 is a return of being able to do 'things' - and you can give the car ownership that purpose with plenty of shows and road trips!

Look forward to reading what you get up to, and thanks for posting the updates smile

Does the storage place have power?

Might be worth plugging it in to a battery maintainer so you don't ruin your battery sitting in the cold over winter.

I'll just grab a new battery in March - I also want to diagnose where the drain is coming from, there's a single clock that might be the cause but it would surprise me.

Even in storage the car finds ways to annoy me. The battery has died completely (expected) but the storage owner reports it’s running hot and refuses to idle. I really hope this is down to the battery somehow but I’m not hopeful.

Low voltage/bad earths can cause gauges to behave in strange ways.

Use an infrared thermometer on the top radiator hose to get an idea if the car is really overheating or if the thermostat is stuck closed.
