Seeing as there's much 205 love on this thread.

Does anyone know anyone in Berkshire who would compile a list of faults with a car for an hour's labour or so?

As there will no doubt be a few bits I can do myself and the stuff I can't I'd like to take a staged approach to.

If it lasts, that is! laugh
Bring it down to Southampton and we'll go over mine at the same time!

Checked the rear seats and no rust but they were wet underneath so not sure what's going on there.

Stripped back the rusty bits today popped some Kurust on and got the hammerite out so they look a bit tidier. Bad news is that in all three places the rust goes through so now have a pea hole in the engine bay, a 10p sized hole on the passenger sill and a 50p hole on the drivers side. Going to patch with duct tape for now to help keep the water out if it rains.

I have more pics of the small efforts done today and one comedy one, which scared the neighbour.

Unblock all the drainage points in the wheel arches and under the car near the jacking points.
Surprised there's no rust under the passenger seats. Lift the carpet / underlay up and check under that.
These cars were galvanised at birth, the only real rust place us normally the inner wings near battery and the jack.

I have the air box and pipes sitting in the garage as I went to the dark side and fitted an Mi16 engine. Let me know if you want to make me an offer as I bought the pipes new 6 months before swapped the engine over.

Enjoy it. smile

Fun times - I love mine! I really should get rid but I just can't bring myself to do it...

Just about to tick over the 70,000 mile mark - had to replace the door glass because some scumbag decided he really needed the £3.20 that was in the car... Took the opportunity to fit a new headunit and speakers whilst I was at it.

You're a little way away from me to easily to pick them up. I'm going to see a guy on Friday who might have the parts and said 20/30 quid for them. It's likely that he has everything I need but I'll let you know.

That's either the rear quarter window seals or I found that as the drainholes on the rear tailgate actually drain in to the car it can roll forward and puddle under the seats. Not sure why Peugeot decided that was a good location for drain holes.

As you're in Leicester we have a montly meet for the Peugeot Sport Club, 1st Monday of the month at the Foxhunter in Enderby. Members and none Members welcome.

Got a feeling it's just from someone spilling something as it was just down the side not on the bottom of the seat (as previously said) but I'll keep an eye on it.

As for the meets I'll definately be up for that but I work till 10 most nights frown

It's quietened down a little bit at the Minute so you're not missing a lot, probably pick up again now after Christmas.

If you need any parts or just 205 advice give me a shout, I live in Thorpe Astley near the Meridian.

The advantage of the recent rain is that it's highlighted the leak. It from the roof at the back. I reckon is the rubber around the boot.

Hmmmm.... That's quite a lot of rot. I would seriously suggest getting it up in the air, wheels off and giving it a thorough clean. Then have a real close inspection of the whole car, particularly the front chassis legs, where the front wings wings join, the inner sills, the jackings points etc. 205s aren't prone to rust but when they start to go, they will fall apart around you. Be certain that the car is properly solid before spending any money on mechanicals. It's cheaper to reshell a car than chasing rust.

Looks like you have an exhaust leak too, given the state of the engine bay. Should keep you busy and out of trouble though. Good luck as they are worth it in the end.

A bit of rust prepping and tidying...

Sill with hole and sill without, one I could tidy the other just put some kurust on it for now.

Ready for a riot or maybe just a cup of tea smile

If you know where I could get a GTI gear knob I might be interested.
