Wonderful cars - I miss mine - and, as others have said already, a bargain purchase assuming you get a good one which looks to be the case here.
I agree on the 'Dave F' kit, they really add to the occasion as the OEM box is too quiet IMO.
I'm not sure how far you intend to take modifications - although I would say a custom cage is quite a move! - but I'd wholeheartedly recommend an E46 M3 LSD (3.62 ratio as opposed to 3.23 for the E36), especially if it's going to see a lot of track time.
Other mods I can remember off the top of my head are the Rogue Engineering rear top/shock mounts & a braided clutch line, both worth doing.
I'll be watching this thread with much interest, look forward to the updates.

I'm not really planning on doing much more for a bit now but will look at your ideas.
I think a clutch line is a good idea, think this is easy to do? I have to put it in the garage soon as I need to go away and earn some more money, having spent everything I have on the car and Christmas.
Thanks for all the info. I seem to recall that the E46 and the Z4 I had had the Delay Valves.
Think I will do the clutch pipe at some time.
Spent the whole day refitting as much interior trim as possible around the cage.
I think it looks great.
Pictures probably tomorrow as my camera has no power and my resident photographer (wife) is shooting a wedding.

Well, it has been quite a job but I have now got as much of the interior in as possible.
The headlining just fitted back in one piece and I have had to cut the rear side cards to fit them.
The back seat is not going to stay in but it seems a good idea for now to keep the noise down and the cold out.
I'm happy with the paint finish but have a couple of dribbles that need sorting out one day

Well, a small update.
I have been in Puerto Rico for three months so nothing done physically but I do have a few exciting bits in the garage.
Cobra Monaco Seat, OMP Steering Wheel and OMP harness.
I have got myself a couple of new Continental tyres for the rear and the most exciting part is that the wheels are being refurbished on Thursday.
Pictures to follow.....

I'm off to Donington Park tomorrow so have been messing about with the car a bit. Taken the new shiny wheels off again to put the track ones on.
We have been fitting the carpet in the back which I think looks really good. I still need to stick it down and do some slight alterations.
regarding the harness: DeamonTweaks have let me down and the two week wait for the seat subframe is now a month! I have fitted the harness to the roll cage and the seat mounting bolts. I will still wear my 3-point belt but thought I may as well make it as safe as possible. The airbag has gone too.....

Excellent.
I may have mentioned before, but once I got the vanos etc sorted, I really wanted a run at Donington to see how the car performed without the restrictions of the road.
Glad it finally got there!
Must not make the same mistake with my future projects!

So, rear brake pads have worn through completely. I need to take a look next week to see if I have buggered the disks.
The front EBC Blue Stuff pads were great, convinced me I don't need a BBK just yet.

quick question: how are the standard sized brakes holding up to track work? Assume you have some high temp fluid and you mention blue stuff pads, is that all it needs to keep going lap after lap or do you get fade eventually?
Yer, I was getting fade eventually but they held off for much longer than I thought they would.Blyton Park was the big test as it is very tough on the brakes, I managed about ten hard laps at a time. I hope it will be even better now I have Blue Stuff on the back also.
I have Halfords Racing Fluid in the system now but for Blyton it was a mix of whatever was in before and Halfords Racing. I have flushed the whole system now as I fitted new hoses.
Overall, I'm very happy with the brakes and won't be investigating in a BBK just yet.
I think some PSS9's will be the next mod so I can adjust the camber.

I always had good results with Motul RBF600 or RBF660 fluid, and Ferodo DS2500s/DS3000 or Pagid Racing pads. 10 laps isn't too bad though, car looks good!Blyton Park was the big test as it is very tough on the brakes, I managed about ten hard laps at a time.
