just taken her to have the suspension reset and aligned.
This is what I have suggested:

Front Camber: -3 degrees 0 minutes
Rear Camber: -2 degrees 0 minutes
Front Toe: 0 degrees 7 minutes OUT
Rear Toe: 0 degrees 2 minutes IN

Ride height:
320mm front
305mm rear
(Measure center hub to arch)

Look forward to a blast at Anglesea next week - the weather aint looking too great however...

love angelsey. Need to find a reason to go back there. Bet the x5 helps. Id have to drive all the way with my extra cusion and noise cancelling headphones lol. Bit much for perhaps 7hrs.

Dont worry about the weather at angelsey. I did it in what could only be classed as a huricane. Was hard to walk from the cafe to the car cos of the rain and wind. Aqua planing everywhere lol.

Last time I did a full day on track and then 3 hours drive home - not to be repeated!

E36's really seem to be ageing well. I was never that much of a fan but as time passes I'm starting to appreciate their shape.

Just wanted to get your thoughts on EBC's? I've run green, red and yellow before and wasn't all that happy with them. The reds were OK, but once thoroughly warmed the squeal was bloody awful. I also noted the pads would crack. My E30 M3 came with greens in the rear and they literally fell to pieces when I swapped them out for Hawk. (I currently run DS2500 front & Hawk rear. I would have had Hawk up front but sadly they don't carry a pad for my Tarox 6 pots)

Just to add my bbit regarding the brakes mark, EBC pads break up so easily as you say , iv run EBC green stuff in the past and they were awful, RED stuffs performed well but as you say seem noisy, the noise was also a bit more full on for me in the cabin too.
Maybe the compound was a little to hard to be fast road.

Your best bet is the DS2500.

also just to add the EBC Rotors also performed crap and warped in a short amount of time.

I'm using the EBC Blue Stuff pads and have to say they are very good for the price.
Ideally the car needs a BBK but the expense is a bit high considering the use.

The EBC green pads were crap on the track and over heated very quickly. The Blue Stuff fives me about 15 minutes hard track driving before overheating.
I have rattled through a fair few sets now and never seen them break up. I get about 3 track days to a set of front and about 4 to 5 out of the rear.

So, as the car is just about to hit 100,000 miles, I thought best to send it off for a service. I have done nothing in the last four years other than change the oil and filters.
I have sent it off to Garage 786 in Leicester for timing, valve clearances/shims and a general service.
I hope to see it back soon but one of the hub bearings needed replacing (front left so suspect Donington is to blame) and the threads on the rocker cover are all knackered.

In the meantime, I have decided to paint my spare, spare wheels:

I had them blasted back to bare alloy, just like the green ones.

I also went insane and decided to purchase a carbon fibre bonnet... this however got delivered damaged and I'm now trying to decide if it is worth sending it back or negotiating for a bit of money to tidy it up...

Good man. I'm going to start pestering you about the dual fuel pump setup again soon as I still haven't done mine and have forgotten most of what I learned laugh

So, I'm never purchasing an aftermarket bonnet again.

  • Paid too much
  • Came damaged
  • Fighting over compensation
  • Complete arse to fit and align
  • Still not 100% happy with the fitting
It does look good however and think it must be about half the weight of the standard one (I'm still to weigh the old one)

  • regarding the stripes - I didn't really want any but just could not find another. They aren't that bad scratchchin

in other news:

New OSF wheel bearing fitted
New Spark Plugs Fitted
Valve Clearances done (first time in 4 years and they were well out apparently getmecoat)
Timing checked/adjusted
MOT done etc.

Last time I drove the car I thought it was a bit slow and had crap throttle response - now it is like a rocket ship again.
Very happy.

I have booked Mallory Park for the 18th November, not the most exciting track but was struggling to find a date I could do.

Looking good Ben. Wonder how much weight you've stripped out in total now. Presume you'll be bringing the Porsche to Wales.

no, still the same place.

Did Mallory yesterday in the wet, very interesting.
My brakes are now dead so need a plan of action.

Look forward to hearing how you get on with yours!
