So, car came out of hibernation for a run around Mallory Park yesterday.
To say it was wet is an understatement!

I thought my road tyres would be good but I think they just couldn't cope with what I was trying to do... May have to invest in some proper rain tyres sometime.
I currently have Pilot Sports on the front and Sport Contacts on the rear.

I did 100 miles on track which is about 97 laps, no real issues apart from the front brake discs being knackered. I knew they were worn but now the are warped. The steering wheel was shaking like a stting dog under braking...

Due to a new kitchen, the BBK will have to wait so I have gone for a set of Brembo discs to replace the OEM ones. I still have a set of new BlueStuff pads in the garage.

Glad you had fun. Have you considered trying the Performance Friction discs. Apparently they are less prone to warping. There's also a brake cooling kit for sale on cutters.

have looked but decided to go with the simple Brembo option.
Cooling kit is expensive! I have some parts to make my own but lacking motivation....

did Bedford Autodrome GT yesterday! 190 miles on track.
I had a slight fuel leak from a broken connection on one of the fuel pump so that held me back for about 40 minutes in the morning.

Fantastic track and got quicker through the day.

The new front brakes were fantastic, really impressed!

My only issue now is that the car is idling like a dog, its ok with some revs on but at standstill, it shakes all over the place frown
should keep me busy for a bit...

My 318 with big Catcams idled all over the place. Made the whole car rock. It has gone since my remap from EndTuning.
"TheEnd" as he is known on here, gave me some more beans, raised the idle and the limiter. May help.

If your Revs at idle are not "bouncing" then you may have what my M3's currently suffering - low oil pressure in the Vanos Oil pump causing your exhaust solenoid to wonder when idle. When you blip the throttle you naturally lift the oil pressure and the solenoid adjusts correctly!

I'm getting it fixed by a local indy who knows his onions when it comes to BMWs and should take about 4 hours labour!

Hope this helps - or hope that its something more simple!

thanks, it was actually ok last night when I moved the car but defiantly something up.
I will check the air flow sensor and a few obvious things first then look at a garage... banghead

no, still the same place.

Did Mallory yesterday in the wet, very interesting.
My brakes are now dead so need a plan of action.

Look forward to hearing how you get on with yours!
Not much to update, friends keep having babies so only 2 outings this year.
Put some RS29s in the brembos as didn't get much bite from the blue stuffs.
Need to do the tapped clearences and gear linkage some time

Took the Mini Cooper S (turbo) to Bedford a few weekends ago, good handling and just about fast enough in the wet. Wrong wheel drive tho!
Killed the brakes so the mini got new std cheap discs and yellow stuff pads, you can now stand it on its nose under braking.

Well, the engine seems to be running ok again.... will have to send it for a tune soon.

I have been messing about trying to get more cold fresh air towards the air filter, pictures to follow.

I have fixed the broken pipe connector for the fuel return and that should be nice and strong now.

Finally decided to start trying to loose some weight...

it's ongoing..... smile

The work continues:

Rolling the lips back as the tyres are catching when doing massive opposite lock oversteer wink

Unfortunately the front left has already rubbed a bit too much and the paint has chipped off.

Door cards fitted

I'm thinking of wrapping them once I'm happy with the fit.
I have some handles to put on them too.

I have booked a track day at Donington on the 6th so checked the brakes.
Glad I did as the rear was 99.9% gone :roll eyes:

I got them from Sean at Total Dynamic Motorsport. Just a simple pre-cut plastic panel.
Find him on Face Book.

The straps for pulling the door shut are from eBay

I think I want to paint the inside of the car where I have removed the sound deadening, not sure on a colour however.

Always loved Bedford. You can get up to some serious speed down the back straight. smile
