Hi All,

Just thought I'd share a pics of my ex-racer that I picked up end of October just in time to waft me along to work in warmth and comfor - oh waitbiggrin

Still not totally decided on a name but at the moment it's a toss up between Cadbury / The Purple Haze.

Although this is a second car I do intend to use it throughout the year and it will get used through the winter if the roads are dry and have not been salted for a few days. Bit gutted that I have missed the tail end of the season and will have to wait till spring to enjoy it as much as I'd like, but the weathers been good to me so far and I've put a fair amount of miles behind me already.

It is utterly brilliant to drive and all the good things people say are true, it really does feel more like an extension of yourself and all inputs desired or not are without fail fed through to the car which responds accordingly. I have been eyeing these up for a while now and thought maybe I should wait until I could buy it outright but on the advice of a few people with more than slightly biased opinions I took the plunge and went for it. No regrets what so ever, so anyone else who is umming and arring, just get it done and worry about all the boring stuff like food, clothing and a roof over your head later.

One thing I will say is that it's totally ruined the driving experience of my other car pictured below, a Saab 900 Carlsson.... which now literally feels like pootling along in a huge old bus (which I suppose it is..). I never thought I would hear myself describe the Saab as sluggish but I do find myself making a cup of tea whilst I wait for the turbo to get out of bed these days.

Without further a do in all it's glory:

slightly muddy..

with the barge

Spec is:

2001 Roadsport racer
Minister Power 1600K with Supersport Upgrade
4-1 Manifold with Raceco silencer

Dry Sump
6 Speed Box
LSD
Full Cage
Drivers 6pt harness
22% quick rack with MOMO QR wheel.
Stack dash + shift lights
Stack datalogging + transponder
13" with CR500
30L FIA Bag tank
Triple pass Ally Rad
Lowered Battery
Plumbed in Fire-Extinguisher
Brake Bias Valve
Obligatory PH stickers to cover paint damage
Aeroscreen
Foam Seats

It's a huge spec for the money I got it for and although it's not a polishers car and has 'patina' as I believe it was described in the advert, I bought it to use it and didn't want to have to wince at every stone pinging off the rear wings. The car is well known and respected in 7 circles and is brilliantly set up so I have a lot of work to be doing to make sure it continues to live up to expectations.

Immediate plans are to just enjoy it but it needs squeaky brakes sorting and a thermostat fitting....stat, as I have to ps off the neighbours warming it up on the drive and tape the rad up at the moment. Also some seats wouldn't go amiss but who needs any of that pansy stuff,I always thought a bit of an optional extra in a car.rotate.

I'll join the L7C soon so any of you on BC can except me to start badgering on there and I plan to do maybe 2-3 track days next year.

Absolutely loving the stares of 'who is that raving lunatic driving a car without a windscreen, roof or doors' as I pootle about in it.

Comments / criticism welcome - I originally was going to change the colour as resprays on 7's are pretty cheap but it's grown on me a lot now and will probably stay purple.

If that's not the perfect 2 car setup, I don't know what is!

Alex- you may as well give up and buy one now! tongue out

Really nice car, pete- and yes that's a great spec for the money. Close to my ideal spec, actually. I love k-series sevens, I love the caterham 6-speed and with all those extra bits It'll be a great car to get you on track. You plan "2-3 trackdays next year", but be warned- it is highly addictive!
The Saab is lovely too- just stick a towbar on it and it'll be perfect for aforementioned trackday duty. My towing barge is so much more boring.
I'm on 'Blatchat' so I'll no doubt see you there...

Ah would love a VVC. Yeah they are really underrated, as are most MG/Rovers seemingly. They handle suprisingly well. Mine's starting to rust badly though frown
