Brimmed the LS for the first time last night. £110 point something equating to exactly 81 litres. Lets see how long it lasts and more importantly how many miles it gives me. First computer range display showed 311 miles which is about 17.5mpg...
Ha!Same size as my E34 then, although mine showed 395+...
Will be amazed if it does over 300 to a tank though, and think I will start filling it when it is a quarter full, to lessen the impact somewhat!

How did it cost to get the photos done professionally?

I really should sort them out but weather means I haven't been able to take good ones anyway, PH doesn't have a rotate function & the real ad is on AT anyway!

Do these go wrong as often and cost as much to fix as you'd expect from a luxury barge? Or break as infrequently as you'd expect from a Japanese car?
They definitely don't go wrong as much as other barges, costs aren't necessarily cheap but as long as they're maintained to schedule (as I made sure mine has been) then all is good. Suspension and belts usually get done at certain points in the life of an LS; perhaps many at under 100k won't have had this done and will be due some bills. The reliability of a Japanese car is indeed present; I've not heard of any broken down via hearsay and there are no major problems that cause them to combust or make them impractical after certain mileage. Likewise, the build quality is fantastic with seats and switchgear coping with years/miles much better than any BMW/Merc I've seen.

You've just made me feel much better, I've been complaining that my CRV costs £70 to fill and doesn't go much more than 300 miles on it!
Nah - you got it easy mate -try my 20 year urban average 22.5mpg from an average of only 99bhp - 4 cylinder cars - V8/V12 MPG magnum555 said:
Excellent Choice, Enjoy
Thanks. I have and am doing so, it a great car. Done over 2k miles in the time that I've had it. Although as I mentioned above, I do get pretty restless so now looking to move on. As with any time, many directions to turn, even harder after something like this. jonnydm said:

You know it's not worth much more, you've probably held student parties in it and if the Top Gear forensic team took some swabs, God only knows what they might find!

Although if Carlsberg did long drives etc. No Eurotunnel attendant suspected the occupants of an LS to have used an old hanger to avoid a 2 hour wait for the train, not many cars can one comfortably read a broadsheet in either.
Holland, Belgium for work and then home all in one day shouldn't have been possible either and in most other cars it wouldn't have been.
Ferrying my brother to a party also discovered that the cup holders can comfortably accomodate a full size bottle of wine, should one require such an amenity. Almost Octane levels of journeying.
Passangers vying to accomodate the backseats whilst flattering does get tiring.

Ended up filling up after something like 290 miles but the tank only took 70 litres so seems quite a bit more could have been done. On a Europe trip the other day managed 370 before filling and there was probably another 60 miles to go. Can be done but not often!
Did u use cruise control? I did a 230 mile trip in an LS460 - and only a third of the (90 litre) tank was used. Average speed was about 80 mph, but had the radar cruise control set to 88 the whole way.Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
