New to this.

This is my baby built on a 1969 Beetle Chassis just starting to get to grips with the rebuild, just had the chassis totally repaier and now starting on all the other bits.

The car is a FT Bonito a replica of Ford GT40 (cheap version).

Doesn't look much like a GT40, but does look pretty cool. Any more details - engine etc? Also, do you have more pics?

will add some more pictures later as its is in bits at the moment been restored. I has a 1300 beetle engine so is very cheap to insure and run. Its not one of the greatest replicas of the GT40 but it is cheap and cheerful and it still turns heads.

Never heard of a GT40 lookalike utilising a beetle floorpan before! Do you have any more information on manufacturer of the kit? Also need some more pictures! I'm intrigued. I love projects like this because they are just so unique and individual to the builder. The likelihood of seeing another are slim.

Really doesn't look much like a GT40 to me, but not unattractive in itself.

FiberFab were the makers back in the 70's and 80's but they no longer produce the kit. I believe there are only 10 on the road in the UK they were more popular in Europe.

The basic shape of the GT40 is there, it was designed to be a 4 seater utilizing the Beetle chassis. I have currently done away with the back seat to conver to a two seater.

I quite like the second picture. No so keen on the bonnet vents.

More pics please :-)

So I'd imagine that it is still rear engined then? That's rather cool if so! smile

As others have said, it doesn't look entirely convincing but it's a rather nice design - the front lights could perhaps be integrated better but otherwise I like that a lot.

I expect it's probably quite light so it needs less power but how well does the 1.3 engine work with that set-up?
