As I said in a previous thread of yours, epic car but bloody awful driving. I have yet to see 1 lap where you actually stay on the track.
i wasn't going to say anything.........;)that said, it is a very powerful car and no doubt tricky, but on the other hand the accelerator isn't a trigger.

Loving that car. Did you have fun...absolutely, are you an F1 driver...no, Does it matter...nope, should everyone be a bit nicer...?
The acceleration in 2/3/4 is hilarious. Awesome car and some good catching there
Thanks dude. I wasnt trying to be smooth or fast. I was just trying to have fun! and I did The acceleration in 2/3/4 is hilarious. Awesome car and some good catching there
Car can actually go alot faster than that in a straight line. That was only running lowish boost (about 1.3bar, it can run upto 2.4) due to noise restrictions at Bedford and the water injection wasnt working. Think its got an air lock somehow.
Thanks to everyone else for all the nice comments. I love taking people out in it. So if you see me at a Trackday please just ask.

He doesn't crash, he doesn't seem to inconvenience anyone else, and his overtakes seem to be reasonably courteous, which increasingly seems to be a rare thing at TDs. It wasn't a race so lap times and neat driving are irrelevant. It was a TD where fun is the important factor and he certainly seemed to be having plenty of that.
I think his car control is pretty good personally; there was plenty of opportunity for it to go wrong and he stayed (mostly) on the track.

counted about 6 times off the track in 1 and a bit laps and that not including the 90% of car off the track after a couple off slides gone wrong but luckily and messily caught.
I don't know what the marshal was waving at him for.
The driving is just anything but smooth.
Gesturing at the guy in the Porker at the end there is no need for, no overtaking on corners on trackdays remember. Bit close to that silver Clio joining the track though the Clio should have given way.
As he said he was having fun and not going for a lap time but I don't understand the fun in consistently driving off the track.
I had a conversation with a racing driver/ instructor about driving in his last video and he said that he would have black flagged the OP and sent him home for driving like that. I have been on trackdays where friends have been driving like the OP and they got a warning from the people in charge to tone it down or go home.

6 times off track. I've just re-watched the video and most those times are onto Bedford's wide curbs or onto the run off, and not onto the grass. At no point did I see him off track.I don't know what the marshal was waving at him for.

Luckily and messily caught. Have you ever driven a big power Caterfield on a damp track on 48Rs or similar? They are quite twitchy little cars - see Stig's lap http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzZKEIKa4ts
My old Megabird required quite a high work rate from the driver when driven hard on track in the wet - indeed when I had instruction, the instructors would also find the same thing. A light car, LSD, peaky power on a wet track means lots of steering input. E.g two more examples.

The Clio. Entirely the clio drivers fault that - you give way coming onto a track.
But his driving isn't perfect - the Porsche, the other blue clio(??), both errors of judgement. But then none of us are perfect when it comes to driving, and driving on track is one big learning curve.
I simply don't get the culture of PH sometimes; why there is such a the need to criticise someone who posts a vid of themselves driving on track especially when there is nothing overtly wrong with their driving. All it is going to do is create a culture where people don't bother any more for fear of ridicule.
Haven't seen his other videos so can't comment on them.

If anyone has to criticise the guys driving please leave it to the TD organisers and just enjoy the video like everybody else!

I forgot to ask, do you have a link to a build thread on this car? This forum or elsewhere...
Think I've watched that video about 10 times now!!
Glad you liked it dude. You are welcome to come along to a trackday and have a blast out in it. Think I've watched that video about 10 times now!!
There is a build thread. Its quite a long read... lots of pics though. It was supposed to be a real budget build. It got way way way out of hand and budget went out the window completely.

Sorry my driving has upset certain people Feel all a bit low about it to be honest....
I'll always listen to criticism and the LAST thing I want to do is upset anyone else on track. Hence why I left that car in the pits from 9am -3pm
If I had had any complaints or was told to cool it down of course I would have. The Marshall was warning me about drifting too much. That was the sign he waved. I pulled into the pits to apologise. They said no worries and to carry on having fun.
I don't try and bully people out of the way and always try and be as considerate as I can.
Yes I make mistakes and can get over excited and I know I am not the worlds greatest driver! but I dont think I am 'awful' either... although I kinda feel it now
I wasnt trying to be smooth. I wasnt trying to be that fast. I was just trying to have fun. I dont think I was off the track either really. Was just using all the available area to maximise the fun!
Thanks for sticking up for me Mr Rhino. You are welcome to have a drive of the car if you like. Its alot of fun
Thanks Ned too!

Possibly, just possibly alot of criticism comes from Gran Turismo heroes who've never driven on track. I've very little track experience and I know for sure that a Westie would make a fool of me very quickly.

This exactly & its obvious he is `having fun' hence the great vid for everyone to see. So stop bhing about his driving otherwise no one will upload stuff like this anymore. Porkie I liked the video keep them coming & im quite happy to admit that if it was me in your position I would of crashed it!I've very little track experience and I know for sure that a Westie would make a fool of me very quickly.
having reviewed the evidence, other than being a bit stabby with the controls (hence causing the need for second and third corrections) it wasn't all that bad, the off track excursions were largely 'within bounds' and largely in the 'having fun' category as opposed to 'about to have a massive off'
Now i know that this revision will be of great relief to Porkie (because the opinion of an unknown on the internet IS important) and thus he will be able to sleep peacefully in his bed now
