Lovely cars. I'm still undecided if I prefer the 1M or M3...I think a cross between them both would be perfect.
Well there is a lot of cross sharing to begin with : )

A picture is worth a thousand words....

Starting point Northumberland National Park and Falstone..

Kielder Water

And onwards we go...

First casualty on one of the many mountain 'tarmac rally' stages

Quick tour and taste testing on route

Further into Scotland we go

First deperture from the main group, Mark and his M135i make way for Inverness to sort out his bulge issue, tyre that is ; ) The rest of us make for Loch Ness

Oil top up time & a bit of road surfing on the baron plains

Lock Ness bound off the beaten track

Loch Ness = fog

Casualty 2

Loch Ness and the little M135i fresh on a new front set of Michelins

Making track for John O'Grouts

West we head...

Heading south west

Windy was an understatement

Ullapool region

Isle of Sky

Eilean Donan Castle

Commando Monument

Loch Lomond

Back across the boarder to some wet weather after a dry run around Scotland
Pennines/Yorkshire Dales

Great trip, hard on the cars but BMW M's are built for driving hard, not collecting dust parked up in a garage. Now in need of a new windscreen, that be number 3.

Thanks to Marcus for organising the great route and itinerary, Hetan, Mark and Jana for the laughs and company.

Fantastic post and write up as always. Thoroughly enjoyable read thumbup

Your average mpg is better than my current car; Clio 197 Cup. Struggling to get more than 26mpg hehe
Thanks mate, it is surprising how well the economy is on the 1M but then much of the driving was well away from traffic and free flowing unclass off the beaten track roads so averaging 60mph or less due to the surface and bottoming out which my front splitter took a caning lol

The 1M looks spot on; makes the M135i look even uglier when alongside! Would happily pay the extra for looks alone...
Mark the owner came from a 1M but required an auto and the extra doors but has his sights set on the M2....

We are always on the look out for great driving roads, even simply on route to a PH SS, so will let you know. The owner of the Meg, Joe, came from a 1M but due to the amount of miles he does, was looking for something a lttle easier on the gas, mind you, the 265 doesnt half stick about on the b-roads we come across.....
