watch the G/box on those, they fail quite frequently.... I have lost count how many we have done at work.
My brother has one the same. Gearbox failed recently. One of my brother's oldest friends has worked in in an auto gearbox place (indy) since they left school, and repaired it for him for c. £2k. Apparently this indy does all the repairs for local Volvo main dealers. I'm told that the dealer picks up the phone, calls the indy, they recover the vehicle complete, strip, repair, rebuild and return to the dealer for something just over £3k. Dealer's standard charge to customer is north of £6k.....

yes
Aye forewarned is forearmed, We were well aware that the stty GM Gearbox in these things is a ticking bomb before we acquired it...like I said, it was a "Gift Horse....." we'd have been stupid to say no.

It does have an additional oil-cooler, can't do much more than that...No point worrying about it.

Update:

Bit of a bill popped up recently for Front suspension parts (Genuine parts fitted by trusted local garage) and two tyres (was quoted £800 initially but it weighed in at just over £600 in the end)

Our T6 is getting daily use at the moment due to the flood waters, MissB has deeper water to get through on her route to work than me so she is in the T6 I'm using the S60 D5 (so as not to risk drowning my S4).

bit of an overdue update:

6th March

...........From one, looking at the other

24th March on way to work

My big girl is still being used daily as floodwater is still too deep for my S4.

Yep still too deep for my S4, but finally going down now.

24th March on way home: Yes it went down that much in one day!

The flood water here is going down pretty quickly now woohoo

25th March

Taken tonight, still floodwater in places, the blue thing is a Pheasant feeder drum to stop people going through the hidden "pothole" it is laying in.

26th March...........From one, looking at the other again

Flood water is lingering.

28th March

Still a good bit of water around out here...you can see how much it has gone down as blue feeder barrel was almost covered on Monday (it is there to highlight a hidden "pothole" yikes )

XC90 is loving it

1st April

Pics taken tonight.

Yeah...I'm not putting my S4 through that^^^^ nono

tbh I'm really enjoying using the XC90 daily, mega comfy seats (unlike the ones in my Audi) and nice driving position can see further ahead on rural lanes.

As the mpg question was asked on another thread, Like for like driving/commuting fuel costs:
£50 a week in the XC90 T6
£30 a week in the S4
£30 a week in the S60 D5 (There is no cost difference between the S60 D5 and Audi S4..measured at my wallet)

That's interesting, I would have guessed the S60 would have been less than the Audi.

Thanks for answering my question about how much they are to use. smile

I was surprised when i first got the S4 too, I imagine because the diesel engine in the S60 takes longer to warm-up and run efficiently, my commute is 20mins of rural roads.

The S4 & T6 warm up a LOT quicker than the D5.

No problem.

Washed the big girl on Saturday ahead of taking her to Kent for a family wedding.

300mile round trip, such a comfy car to do miles in.
Did surprisingly well on fuel too....26.9mpg door to door.

Nice Chris cool Makes a change to see a petrol instead of a diesel! Plus with all this price-fixing going on with diesel, shouldn't think it's much different to run

After a great three years this is prob my last post about the big swede.
Some pics taken since previous post:

Gets very dirty

Always cleans up well though

Always nice to see another T6 on the road, same colour and wheels too

Reassuringly sure footed thanks to the Continental winter tyres she runs on all year round.

Has been an absolute pleasure, sadly the XC90 is going.

I fancy a V8 petrol commuter next.
