Do not, whatever you do, pass up a good 1.6 because you want a 1.9. I have been embarrassed in my 1.9 on many occasions by a well driven 1.6. Never had much of an issue with my 1.6 keeping up with my mates 1.9 either.

petrolsniffer said: Is that Steel Grey? It looks to have the right interior but can't tell from the exterior, in those photos. Non-sunroof Steelie would be my perfect car for a restoration. I want that. Badly. But I live in Singapore at the moment. This would be a perfect one for me to leave with a workshop to 'do up'. Hmmmm...

Good looking car, you shouldn't have trouble shifting that! If only I was home

I seriously hate PHs sometimes. Only came into Readers' Cars as someone in General Gassing linked to another thread in here, so I started perusing other Readers' Cars threads, and now I am REALLY missing my red 1.9 GTI that I sold about 4 years ago (making a nice little profit in the meantime however). One of only 2 cars I have ever owned that I regret selling.
So now I'm browsing the classifieds, trying to work out how I can justify another car (to the other half, I can always justify it to myself!), wondering how much insurance is, etc. ggggrrrrr, blo0dy pistonheads...

That looks very nice in red! I've never particularly considered red before, but that looks great!
(a small update to my situation; chap looking to buy my Audi said he'd ring Monday either way, still not heard from him, so will chase him today).

I always wanted red although the paint quality isn't great and it has faded in parts - expected on a 21 year old car I suppose. Good luck with your sale.

Very nice and clean!
I never knew the "rules" for when that rear panel was used - the solid red one rather than the body painted one?!

Good luck with your sale. Red is awesome when it's painted. I don't want to spam the thread with pics of mine but if you click my username you can see mine. I had it painted last July.
