MV6 has either 2.6 V6 and 3.2 V6, only real differences are cosmetic, bespoke front bumper, recaros and xenons, IIRC they are pretty basic inside same trim level as the GLS, I would take a 3.2 Elite.
I definately need to get one of these, serious bargains, RWD V6 with more toys than argos for 4-500 quid! the 2.5 (bmw engine) diesel is getting pretty rare, top spec models have built in nav and a very nice bose sound system in them, heated leather rear electric blind, shame they never put the v8 into production, shame you dont see cars like these being produced (big engined RWD saloon from a run of the mill manufacturer) anymore
(off to ebay/AT/gumtree)
OP, question for you mate, what is the auto box like to live with doing short journeys a2b non motorway stuff?
The auto in this is pretty good although it's not the box that came as standard with the car. It's fitted with the AR35 model that has lockup on third and fourth if I remember right. In traffic it's fine, always nice and smooth although its a tad more jerky on gas. If you're gentle with the accelerator though you won't feel the difference. It's pretty quick to change down in sport mode if you boot it too. Kickdown can be quite addictive!I definately need to get one of these, serious bargains, RWD V6 with more toys than argos for 4-500 quid! the 2.5 (bmw engine) diesel is getting pretty rare, top spec models have built in nav and a very nice bose sound system in them, heated leather rear electric blind, shame they never put the v8 into production, shame you dont see cars like these being produced (big engined RWD saloon from a run of the mill manufacturer) anymore

Nice! I really like the Omaga or, as it was known as here in the States, the Cadillac Catera. I bought a 2001 model last summer and love it. The Catera came off the same Russelshiem assembly line as the Opel/Vauxhall Omega and has the 200 bhp V6 and four speed autobox. It's essentially similar to the Euro-spec Omega MV6.
Oh, in case you're into some light customisation, the Vauxhall grille can be swapped for a Cadillac unit in minutes!
Here's mine......

I think its the fact that the wood is clearly an ebay special sticker kit.
Is it really? It looks good and matches the figuring on the door trims (or at least, it appears as though it does in these pictures). I had just assumed this was a 'top spec' centre console. Twink said:

Yep, kick down can be addictive, had an auto before and did'nt mind it but wasn't fussed either, most omegas I see for sale are auto's, not many manuals.. plus I am scared of it breaking (like my last auto!)MadmanO/T People said:

I think I read your own thread featuring your lovely white omega/caddy. Looks the muts nuts in white. How does it comapare to say a crown vic or other large sedans/saloons? is it classed as a "mid-sized"? :-)
I'd say good choice. I was looking for one nearly two years ago. But could not find one locally in a decent condition so bought Accord and regreting it every time I am in it
Never seen anyone tuning the 2.2 engine. I have read that the 2.2 engine chain/tensioner issue is not uncommon?

2.2 is way underpowered and to be honest if you going to tune it and suffer the decreased reliability/mpg you might as well start with the V6Never seen anyone tuning the 2.2 engine. I have read that the 2.2 engine chain/tensioner issue is not uncommon?

It can be an issue but they never fitted that version to the Omega. I know the chain engine (Z22SE) went into the Vectra and maybe the Astra but the one in the Omega (Z22XE) is belt driven. The Z22SE engine is in the VX220 too thinking about it, and some people are running serious power on them. Supercharged too in some cases.Never seen anyone tuning the 2.2 engine. I've got an ex-police V6 Special - it's great fun!
It's had a hard life, but still going strong;
(Mine's the one on the left)
(On the right in this picture - it was repaired and did a further 3 years service in the Police, I believe)
(This was a year ago when it was written off in a minor accident - and I bought it back from the insurer and repaired it)
And I have some fun in it;
I can't bring myself to part with it.

Well done Twink! I've had 3 Omegas to date. Started off with a 2.0 CD estate,then a 3.0 MV6 saloon(manual,with leather), finally a 3.2 Elite estate.
Jetex cat-backs on both the V6s. Still have the MV6,but it needs a bit of TLC now! It's a facelift model and will be with me for a while yet.
Started looking at Holdens/HSVs over 10yrs ago.Wanted a V8,but much too expensive then!
Finally managed to make a dream come true in 2009 and got my hands on a 2007 6.0 VXR Monaro.Its a keeper and is really an Omega coupe with a Chevy small block under the bonnet.
Stick with RWD,you won't regret it. One of my 1st cars was an Opel Kadett C and I always wanted a Coupe.Found one in 2005 and plan to pass it on to my two young daughters so that they can learn the "art" of RWD car control. Hope they will be able to master the Monaro in due course!!!
Omegas.......love them.

Hi there,
I have recently bought my first Omega (although have driven a few before). Its a 2002 2.6 V6 Elite saloon in silver with 107,000 miles on the clock. Great looking car and has some tax and MOT on it not bad for £870.00.
Goes really well on the motorway and not bad for knocking around the town. Its superb for going round the pubs I run as I can get 4 x 9 gallon barrels of cask ales in the boot
Might have to try drifting though, looks like fun.
Regards
Tim
