following the interest in the Singer recreations and remembering the many pages of banter that accompanied Chris Harris's "green snotter" I thought having lurked for a long time I would finally get round to posting up my car for no good reason other than general interest

what i wanted was a classic 911 that would be track friendly, look good in a retro way and hopefully keep its value. That was my starting point and could have gone in many directions. Of course its easier and cheaper to buy someone elses completed project but for me a lot of the fun and satisfaction was in "the project" and getting involved in spec and sourcing bits and bobs.

I bought a very well looked after US import 911 that was already fitted with a 2.7 mag cased MFI "carrera" engine and took it from there...

wont bore you with the detail but 6 months later, May last year I went to collect what morphed into a blood orange RSR replica. all built by tuthills...main spec: twin plug engine with h/c pistons, exe-t-c dampers, 6pot / 4pot modern brakes, 7" fronts and 9" rears on TB15's, and a few other bits and pieces.

8 months, 2500 miles and 4 trackdays on I'm still in love. never had a classic before and now I'm hooked (albeit this is a classic with the application of modern technology). For me, where the Singer and PS cars go slightly wrong (and backdates generally) is that intrinsically its hard to say what they are. Starting with a 72/3 car gives all sorts of other issues not least rust, but at least its period correct and still a classic pre IB 911 albeit not the sepia brown T that exited the factory! cheers Dan

nice, not a fan of red cars in general (except Ferraris)

think the silver thing on the bonnet is the fuel cap, which does ruin the look slightly (a bit like Christina Hendricks with a spot on her forehead)

What a cool little thing!

Massively geeky but do you have a rear 3/4 shot? That view of an RSR's bum is about as good as 911s get to my eye biggrin
