Different moggie now I'm afraid. The mog of catbox fame is no longer with us.

Back on topic - I have always liked the key placement in (most) Saabs - easy to see and not hidden behind the wheel, keyring sits still and does't rattle and bang around, and of course in the case of an accident you have a chance of not losing your right kneecap!

I still sometimes fumble for the steering column keyhole though!

Except the second ever time I drive it I managed to catch the key with my arm and kill the engine while waiting to pull out of a junction. otolith said: I still sometimes fumble for the steering column keyhole though! You'll get used to having it in the correct place TBH I don't think I've ever done that (nearly 7 years I've had it now), and despite my initial worries have never had problems swapping between cars (4 different cars driven regularly, just the 900 with the central key). Occasionally have a "moment" with the wipers though due to the MX-5 (on the other side!)

Congrats on your SAAB! My grandparents had a lovely 9-5 2.3t that I borrowed one summer - 182bhp was a lot when I was 18! Unfortunately, disaster struck and the engine shat out most of it's internals through the exhaust along with a cloud of smoke that could be seen from space. All thanks to the dreaded OIL SLUDGE. It's a common problem (by design!) with the engines in these cars, and it's very important that you're aware of it as an owner. I wish I had. http://www.saabcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t...Good luck, hope your engine lives on!

The Aero models are said to be less prone to sludging because they had fully synthetic oil specified rather than the semi-synth used on the lower powered versions. All the same, I had the sump dropped and cleaned out on ours, it was overdue a service and the intervals are uncomfortably long as they are, in my opinion.

Indeed. I am well aware but as stated, an Aero HOT should always have fully synth.
It's being serviced by a local specialist on Monday, and he will advise on a sump clean out depending on what he finds.

Serviced. It wanted a backbox, it'll need front pads in about 8000 miles and the front tyres are thin. I knew all of that.
Appears to be a good buy. I still haven't sorted the pixel loss on the info display though.

How are you getting on with it?
I'll be back in a Saab this week. The only decision to make is 9-5 Aero or 9-3 Aero...

Parking sensors have fritzed, new tyres have sorted the wheelspin, crank sensor means it now starts again. Sailed through the MOT with no issues. Appears solid. Aircon compressor seems noisy? Is this normal?
