thanks again all!

i had previously thought about using linear actuators but i was a bit worried about the cost vs actuation speed. In the end i think its just a matter of cost for now but i would love to do away with the pneumatics in favour of electronics..

Thanks mate - means alot to hear positive comments like that!

As i mentioned previously i think, i put together a 3D scanner using a microsoft kinect v1, and i have been drawing up the subframe for the engine, transmission and rear suspension. Ill be using this to get all the calculations done and assemble up then the whole unit will be fitted to the car in one go..

Sorry for the resolution, the imported scan of the engine is 0 thickness so it will not render.. But you can see that i have modelled the underlying mounting points and then superimposed the 3D scan on top to get the broad space envelope i have to work in..

I am using some other suspension design tools to specify the lengths etc. I am also experimenting with a rear wheel steering system in addition to the active front camber control system i also designed..

Absolutely nuts. Keep the updates coming, one of the most inventive build threads for a long time.

Put me out of my misery mate, what is the actual name of the colour of your car? I love it, but can't remember.

Thanks again for the compliments

The purple is an OEM colour - ive always loved it- however i have no idea what the name of it is - or what the code is. Itll be getting resprayed either this colour or nissan midnight purple - not sure yet..

Here is a more upto date rendering of the rear end - excuse the quality as it was rendered on my laptop..

The OP hasn't posted on PH at all since December 2014.

Also, the website link in his profile no longer exists (if it ever did)...

I suspect this project has died a death...

He definitely talks a good game. Car forums seem to be full of wild build threads which never seem to go much further than accumulating parts.

Hopefully it's still happening, I'd like to see a mid engine W8 build, especially to see how he plans to build the engine to take boost. The engines are pretty fragile and the conrods are much narrower than what's used in the VR6.

he seems to be using as much IP and physical parts as possible from the civic build in a slightly cooler shell.

he does have a whiff of being a starter, not a finisher though..
