A friends AC 3000 ME
Discussion
His Dads car which has been sat in the garage for over a decade, has now been brought outside, blinking like a pit pony, to see daylight once again!
As this has the leather option, back in 1980, it would have cost you £13600 and mint ones can still command £15k apparently.
Currently has the standard Ford Essex 3.0 V6, but has cosworth pistons, water injection, a ceramic turbo conversion by Robin Rew - Silverstone, manifold upgrade, Konis & bigger rear tyres.
Of course, there is a fair bit to do to get it all roadworthy again, but it seems to be mostly surface rust chassis wise.
The future may include and engine upgrade (will have to keep you posted on that as and when and if it happens)
A bit of history for those interested...

Some pics. Most were taken on a phone, so I tarted them up a bit in paintshop, but the interior shots are not as clear. Will try to get more later.

Unfortunately not at the moment, haven't even touched it yet. In fact, I haven't even seen it before - has been stored in a garage since before I was born and hasn't seen daylight since! His is the last one which came off the line at Linwood, #212 I think - was made for the company directors close friend so unlike the rest of them it has a galvanised chassis. Will ask my uncle to dig out some pics and scan them in, they're fascinating little cars and each of them has it's own story!
Are you planning on converting the head to unleaded or just running it on aviation fuel when it's done?

It would be great if you could post something about the car on the AC ME forums ( link above ) ,and a picture of the car would be superb as they are trying to gather as much information about all the cars and where they have ended up .
I wish you luck with the car and look forward to hearing thats is being put back on the road
cheers
Mark ( owner of 117 )
Thanks for that, I have been on the website before but refrained from posting as I don't want to post anything inaccurate or misleading - will clear it all up with my uncle and get it out in the sunshine for a few pictures then point him in the direction of the forum to provide the correct information. I look forward to reading this thread, had to do a double take when I read the title!
Updates :
Car was finished a few weeks ago and went straight through the MOT .
There was a lot of interest on the ACOC forum and a local guy to me has looked at the car several times
and we have agreed a price on her.
I'm still not sure if I have done the right thing but cash hasnt changed hands yet .
