More old news, but here's a better picture of the home-made turbo head shield. (strut brace about to be re-fitted)

It's made from a sheet of Aluminium (1.5mm thick I think) cut with a jigsaw with the curved formed by bending it over a scafold bar propped against the garden wall.

Part way into the Wire tuck/clean up operation..

Been out experimenting with the camera and a friends 'rig' too, here's the result:

Cheers Greg - the Photography is another hobby of mine which I'm working on. Always good to hear the results are going down well smile

The Wire tuck, On the passenger side I've put the loom behind the wing, there's plenty of room for it and I haven't had to change the length of any of the wires. Drivers side the loom is still inside the engine bay, just rerouted so the loom tucks up under the lip to the wing. Then drops down under the headlight motor as opposed to down the side of the suspension turret.

The tuck also involves picking out what you dont really need it there too. Such as the many wires seen in the messy picture above, they aren't in use and would have been for the AC.

Sorry should have read fitament. Phones to blame!
I'm still not sure what you mean there tbh. I'll get pads which fit in the calipers, am I able to specify more than that?

This is genuinely beautiful, by far the nicest Mx5 I've ever seen. So is there any chance of a higher res version of the Autumn photo? 1920x1200 stretches it a bit on my desktop wink.
Many thanks for adding that. I'm shocked so many people have said its the nicest MX5 they have seen, I really am..

Make me an offer for the high res image if you like ideabiggrin

I'm not sure about sending out images in that sort of resolution tbh as they could be printed from that... Hmm, its something for me to have a think about. I have a new website in the pipeline, maybe a 'desktop' images section should be included?

One more photo for you.. From this months Yorkshire PH meet smile

The splitter is from a Renault Laguna, carefully massaged to fit the '5. Its the non vented type thats all, suits better without the vents imo.

This isn't exactly up update on progress on the white car, more my own developments smile

So, this car is owned by Roddisons Motorsport, but I was lucky enough to get a drive in it last weekend..

Racing at Croft with Max5Racing!! Big Smile

What an incredable weekend it was! I qualified 1st in class on a dry track, with the car still in its soft wet setting! Race 1 saw me battle from the front with Rob Chilcot througout the race, until Rob spun leaving me to take the class win home Big Smile

Race 2 was completely different, and very wet! Bad enough for the track to be pumped between races, needless to say visability was very low! Anyway after a great start I passed Jeremy H on the inside and continued to hold him off for the duration of the race. Another Class Win and finishing 4th overall (ahead of several MK3 cars)

I was a very happy chappy!!

Thats my first ever Race too - 3rd time I'd driven the car!

I took the car Drag Racing at York Dragway at the weekend.

Its the first time I've ever driven a Dragstrip tbh, though I've been going to watch the sport for almost 25 years!

Its more difficult than it looks too, as the slightest change means you lose out on your times. Say you get the smallest touch of wheelspin, that means that run is down a good half a second straight away. etc etc.. Its amazing how you soon find yourself chasing 1/10th's of a second

My best time was:

13.7488 @ 101.17mph
Best 0-60 was 5.54sec

Has anyone noticed the Aluminium washer tank I made?

While tidying the engine bay up I thought moving the plastic washer bottle to a neater location would be nice.. and the fact that i'd just melted the standard bottle what with it fitting inches awa from the turbo!

So an ideal spot, in my mind was the scuttle panel. I'd seen the fiat cappuccino bottle fitted neatly up there so I went for one of those.. After a bit of searching I'd still not found one, so I figured I'd make one to suit

Now I've never done anything like this before. I set to it with cardbard templates, then more templates until happy. I've then bought he sheet Ally, cut and bent the tank in a little vice at home then had it welded up smile

The result:

I dont like to see fittings and wires on show if I can help it, so I designed that tank around hiding them away here:

And there you go smile You can buy replica tanks inc fitting kits on Nutz now (not from me)

What do you think?
