I've owned the 850 for 2 years now and done some little changes to it but subtle ones and it will end up with around 300 bhp when I've finished as I know to run more is wasted as it's running around 260 hp at the moment and is fun to put power down.
When I went to pick it up.

Nice, Reverse intercoler piping makes a fair amount of difference.... to get to a proper 300bhp you;ll need to change the turbo as the standard 15G on the 850 T5 isn't efficient and superheats the air therefore losing you power. YOu could get there with water injection though but I disagree with that concept.... get yourself a 19T off a V70R (you'll need a new down pipe due to angled output flange) and an ME7 Manifold and you'll be sorted.
Car is now lowered and running new suspension
Sorry but the wheels are staying and the carbon wrap will probably be going and the door strips that had been colour coded will be taken back to the grey they should be as I have done with the front and rear bumpers. Car is de-badged except for the Moose badges on the wings.
re-map is on the cards soon and bigger brakes for the front and poly bushes and then full exhaust.

Assuming this is FWD like my S60 T5 (which has 250bhp) is there really any more point in giving in any more power, given that within legal speeds, it can only just put down it's power as it is? I mean second gear goes to 65mph, and it's hit and miss weather it'll spin the wheels even in the dry in second. Third gear (I calculate) will take the car to about a ton so if you you can't get grip at those speeds...

It's all about the motorway roll on pulls against other cars my old 855 was fking awesome, fully stripped and caged between 300-330bhp but 200kgs lighter than standard it was just insane how quick it would get from50-100 100-150 however 0-50 was a struggle for traction even with 225 section fronts and care with throttle. Span in third in the wet at 70mph ......
More power isn't always good, but most of the time it is brilliant

why would you even post something like that on a performance forum, should we all drive around in1.1 micras?BorkFactor said:
I think you are probably right, but 250 odd bhp is very tempting! I have read through the thread on your old one, lovely car
Problem is it goes to the wrong wheels. If the one I had didn't have all the stuff done to it for so little money I wouldn't have bought it. Really cheap to insure though, mine with all mods declared was just shy of £1500 fully comp.

That is the thing that puts me off - seems like a lot of power for the front wheels to handle.Really cheap to insure though, mine with all mods declared was just shy of £1500 fully comp.
Insurance is very reasonable on them though, I get quotes of around £750 for a T5, and around £900 for an E36 328i.

Hmm... If buying a Volvo I'd buy an 850R or V70R.Insurance is very reasonable on them though, I get quotes of around £750 for a T5, and around £900 for an E36 328i.
E36, Sport LSD or E34 M5 diff internals slot straight in IIRC.... Job done.

Obviously we should, that's why I have a 250 bhp car...My point really is that of course more power is nice, but surely RWD / AWD is more appropriate for 300+ bhp setups.
