All the info below is taken off the S14 website, I hope it makes sense the guy my dad bought it off was called Adrian up in the North East who after spending a fortune on building it ran short of money and my dad bought this a specially made exhaust and diff from him before he ever fitted it into his car, he was fanatical about it: It is a 2.5 with group A spec, with Arrow rods and group A spec pistons. Motorsport head gasket it has 38.5/32.5 MS sodium filled exhaust valves, 62g each with 29.5 ports, SRD7 springs with shim under tappets, 312/292 MS cams, 48mm throttle bodies with a 50/55 4 into 2 Evo 3 manifold Bottom end is new genuine BMW 2.5 block with the extra webbing for strength with oil squiters. Standard BMW 2.5 crank but it has been lightened and balanced along with an Evo flywheel, the compression ratio is 12.0:1. It is using the 18cm runner Carbon Fiber air box with alpha N. It is the full works and built to a spec discussed with John from Germany off the http://www.s14.net/forums/content.php forum and set up by him at the Nurburgring the engine cost nearly £11,000 just in parts prices believe it or not and said to be safe to rev to 10K!

Just stumbled upon this as am researching before I start a build of my own. I had to sell my M3, although I only do sprints & trackdays, so could never afford or justify preparing a genuine M3. As a result I'm going to be building this to be as close to the real thing as I can, while I continue having fun in the 325. Where could I get details on early works car cage design please? Mine is behind the M3. Any more progress on yours?

This year I am still doing CSCC and Kumho but picking and choosing rounds as have had a lot on with work this year. I went to Anglesey for the first time last weekend (what a great circuit!!) with the CSCC Deutsche Marque and won there which was also a good result for the team (1st, 2nd and 4th). Two weeks before that I was at Silverstone for the Kumho to win race one and finish second in race two (messed up the start)

Can I ask what made you choose dipping the shell over blasting? I've just started stripping my shell but having never done a build from scratch before I'm not sure of best route to take? Is dipping expensive?

Well I think dipping is better at removing all the rust, media blasting can miss rot in corners and crevices... But I didn't really get to involved, the guys doing the car for me did their homework.
The original works cars were dipped though... To lighten them :-)

I'm going to opt for dipping I think although my build won't be up to the standard of yours. I'm going to opt for the same cage design though.
