Nice 328, I do hope you get it running perfectly.

Was it just the 328 Sports that came with the BBS splits?

I've always found cars that are difficult to bleed aren't so difficult once given a large head of water.

Yes it was just the sports that came with the BBS splits. You may have been able to spec it as an option on the standard ones but i've yet to see it

Do it!

£850 passed the MOT with no advisories!

Plus the car handles and drives sweet as a nut.

Yes the cooling system is a wee bit of a b***h, but apart from that its had loads of money spent on it by the previous owner (new tyres, brakes, radiator and various suspension work)

Have got all the body work prepped for paintwork and tbh it wasnt too bad (one bit on each door and each rear arch)
Have been offered an arm rest and a half leather sports interior on the way for.......... £75!!!!
I do miss the 530i's sport seats and i think they would suit the car however is this going against the whole principle of what im doing or do people think it would be £75 well spent?

Comparing it to a 530i is a bit hard, the 530i is soo much more sophisticated and even though they are as quick on paper. I think the 328i feels faster as it just makes you want to drive it harder as its lower ect ect.

For me i have two perfect cars i have always dreamed of having and a project to keep me busy smile
Apologies for the rubbish quality as there from my phone.

Too summarise soo far for anyone who really is interested lol

I have for no good or apprent reason brought a 328i for £850

Pros: Well its £850, its a 328i, its in black, its had loads of money spent on it by the previous owner.

Cons: Its done 142k, has some bits of superficial rust and it had 2 months MOT

So far it's gone for an MOT and passed!!

The water pump and thermostat have been replaced however i now suspect i need another thermostat and to bleed the system properly.

Body work is pretty much prepped now to be painted and its had a bit of a wash!

Lovely Jubbly

Nasty stone chip

Starting on an arch

More of the arch

Decided to clean her arches out before there painted good news car has been resealed with underseal at some point! Will touch up any bits and bobs that need resealing after paintwork.

May be a bit over the top but words cant describe how happy i am.

Thanks to everyones good advice here she is finally running at the correct temperature and not overheating!!

Jacked her up a the front and bled her brought a new expansion tank cap as the seals had gone on the old one and got a new bleed screw. Had her running and took her for a drive, no mayo in the filler cap (must have been the condensation then) and she gets up to temp great so must have been an airlock!

Just got to swap some of the water for coolant.

Now i can carry on with the body work.

What are peoples opinions on a half leather sports interior?

Go for it.

I have some coupe rear Seat outer bolsters in black leather and a pair of black leather rear headrests i dont want. Cover the postage and you can have 'em.

Im tempted i miss the comfort of the sports seats too much.

Do you not have a complete interior. As i have been offered one for 50 plus 20 for the armrest! Otherwise i might take you up on it thanks for the offer. Everyone has been really helpfull so far.

Dont know if it goes against the ethos of the car and just getting a years cheap motoring out of it then selling it for what i paid for it or turning it into a trackday car after a year.

Dont im afraid, no. Id grab that offer tho, thats cheap if theyre tidy.

As for what to do, tidy it and see where youre at in a year. Theyre so cheap you have options.

Five years from now therell be none left i reckon.

I think your right.

Problem is i won't be able to stop lol. It will be an mtec bodykit next then some nice 17" BBS wheels smile

Definatly won't hurt to do the armrest and sports seats there easy enough to fit and certainly won't do me any harm.

If it were me, i'd get some nice 17's on it and do nothing else, just leave it good but standard.

I had some 17's on my 318is style 32 i think???

Im thinking half leather interior, maybe some 17's either style 32's or the BBS style ones the sports have. All would be original im not into non standard but i thought maybe the sports bodykit might perk it up a bit?? Just purely because i prefer the asthetics of the sport to the standard car.

I think a set of sport bbses on it but left standard would look really smart.

Looks good value, rare indeed to find an original 2.8 coupe these days. As such, I'd leave it completely standard too.

However, if you do change the wheels, I would be much obliged if you'd drop me a PM as I'd really like them for my 323i's summer wheels and I can then keep the standard 15" ten spokes as winters.

Keep up the good work. It could be worse, you could be driving a dag-dag repbox. wink

I know especially as these things just are always breaking wink

So when your saying standard would you even bother with the half leather?

I really like the look of the sports and am thinking of going that way i mean its still original and standard it would just be an original and standard sport???? The sports only gain asthetics ect over the standard coupe in the e36?? As the limited slip dif was an optional extra i believe?

The wheels on that 328i they are the 17 bbs style ones i was talking about. Hard to find a decent set that dont need paint and or tyres.

And if i do swap the wheels i'll give you first dibs smile

By leaving it original and standard, I didn't mean turn it into a Sport replica hehe

By the time you've spent money changing the lights, fitting and painting a genuine bodykit, finding, rproperly refurbishing (dismantling the wheels, refurb, reassemble with new bolts) and fitting tyres to set of the BBS wheels, as well as changing the dampers to the Sport's items - you could have bought an actual Sport in very good condition.

So I wouldn't add anything that wasn't originally a factory option on a 328i coupe (so a full leather interior swap from a non-Sport would be fine) - as opposed to a 328i Sport. But then I'm a bit weird like that it seems. hehe

Agreed. When i had myw 328i coupe i didnt have anything on it from m models, they look better as a good exaple of what they are, imho.
