Apologies for going off topic, but oversteer how have you got on with your XJ12. Much progress since the last updates?

Well done on the insurance. The XJR-6 is an amazing car with real charisma.

I want one of these badly, but just can't bring myself to do it. You lot aren't helping by telling me 6 cups are bombproof...

Nice! Had a X300 3.2 until recently and enjoyed it very much. I'd have an XJ8 or a XJR (6 pot) if I hadn't got sick of the expense of running two cars. nuts

Very nice indeed. The X300 certainly has a few things going for it - the ease of fitting an aftermarket head unit being one!

Keep an eye on the state of the bushes, and obviously you'll get through tyres (particularly tears) at a rate of knots, but lovely car - enjoy!

First job, if you haven't already, is to clean the aerial (bottom to top) and grease it with the Jag aerial grease.

Interesting - I'm guessing if I still had the Jaguar head unit it'd be telling me now, as mine doesn't go fully down when you turn it off.

Just give it a wipe down with an oily rag . That should do it

Nice buy. Not a lot to go wrong with the 6s and easy to service yourself. Rot is the biggest problem on these cars.

Looks like a good bargain.

Thanks i will clean the aerial when i get it thumbup and i have a nice head unit ready to go in.

Can you get polybushes for these cars as i have been impressed when fitting them to my other cars and they should last a lot longer in this?

I will definately keep the thread updated with what i get up to!

Bottom to top on the aerial, remember wink

Not sure if you can get poly bushes, but even if you can, don't. You'll lose the ability to waft, which is important on a Jag. One thing I'm jealous of on the X300 cf. the X308 is that it has 17" alloys as standard, and so you get a bit more sidewall and a bit better ride.

I'm to sure if you can get the top or bottom supercharger pulley upgrades for the X300 - on the X308 it gives a chunk more midrange power for not much cash.

Also, on the X308 the brake calipers are a standard Ford part so you can get plenty of performance pads at decent prices. If the X300 are the same then it is a worthwhile upgrade.

Bit more info on the brake pads if you do not mind , I have had new discs and pads and still thought that the brakes were not up to the job
