Sure - I got a set of Ferodo DS2500 front pads through Performance Braking - a lovely lady called Gill if memory serves - for about £80, and when she spoke to Ferodo it turned out that X308 standard calipers use the same fitment pads as a Ford Cosworth - which model escapes me as the box only said "Cosworth", however if you give her a call I'm sure she can help.

FWIW, although the DS 2500 are an upgrade over standard, I'm looking to upgrade again. It's a big, heavy car and can use all the brakes it can get, so am thinking of Pagid RS29 front with DS2500 rears. Just need to find out if they do them, but again I'll be calling Performance Braking to find out.

Honestly? If it isn't rusty ( an easy check) then there isn't much luck involved.

We will wait to see how punishing the running costs are hehe

I figure that if i can just about justify the cars i want i might as well get them now. Petrol is not going to be getting any cheaper so we should embrace cheap big engined cars whilst we still can thumbup

(don't you just love man maths) tongue out

Wow, I'm seriously jealous. I desperately want an X300 or X308 XJR. Some day, but not today. Is that head unit an Alpine CDE-126BT? That's what I have and it looks the same as mine, great HU!

Wonderful. I had an identical one to that. It actually is the 3rd one to come up on google images if you search 'X300 XJR' The one with reg M***SNP. The guy who bought it off me nicked my advert pics and put them on his website! (not that i mind)

Loved it dearly. At 24 it cost nearly £100 a month to insure and i never bettered 19mpg average, but it was bloody brilliant.

Im sure almost 30 is acheivable. Almost.

However, once you get used to the noise of that straight 6 coupled to the supercharger whine at full chat, not to mention the sheer pace of the thing (which is almost comical for such a large car) you won't spend too much time driving economically!!

ETA: Thanks. I miss it! Very envious of your new purchase! Good luck with it.

Love it - came within hours of buying one about 2 years ago when I was looking for an m-way barge. Took it for a test drive, looked it over (in the dark), had it HPI'd, called the garage who serviced it - all checked out OK, game on! I went for one last drive and a good look in the daylight when I noticed that the boot and rear wing looked slightly darker than the rest of the car, pulled back the window rubber and low and behold filler and overspray, pushed the indicator lens in the rear bumper in and noticed that there was silver paint behind it - that was enough for me to walk away.

Shame, I have always wondered what it would have been like to own one. I ended up with a Volvo V70 in the end which turned out to be nothing but trouble!

Enjoy - I am sure you will! (oh, and if you think the MPG on a Jag is bad - you want to try a Mini Cooper S, I am yet to better 22 mpg!!)....

Got the car last night and spent the day so far cleaning out the interior and having a good nosey around. The car is not without its issues but nothing that i can't sort out and nothing that will be too expensive thumbup

The list i have picked up so far to do:

-Give the car a good polish (i will do that tomorrow)
-It is overdue a service so i will get that done next week
-Driver side door mirror is a bit floppy

Apart from that it is all good so once that is all sorted and she is insured and taxed i can start driving biggrin

ETA i will also get some more pictures smile

Excellent. I've got a good condition blue driver's door mirror if you need one.

mine could do with a couple more toys, i wished id got cruise control and the upgraded harmon kardon, but other than that great.
