Well I have just took this in part exchange and am unsure what to do, my personal fleet is getting a bit big, so something has to go, it's either this or a mk1 escort vauxhall powered.

Porsche-

Yes it really is that clean, had a partial restoration a few years ago, car is basically a stunner.

Escort mk1-

Again a very nice and well done but I have never really gelled to it so to speak, owned it for around 8 months.

What would you do?

Anybody interested in either one?

Bin the Porsche and spend the money on getting the MK1 back to original condition with a proper age Ford lump and some original Recaros.

I bet you would, how about a bag a month for a year?

i know what it is. that porsche could be seen a bit as a cheap version because the owner couldn't afford a newer version (wrongly).

the escort looks entirely deliberate though and quite a bit more purposeful. far harder to "accidentally" own one.

That would be a no brainer. Sell the porsche, keep the escort but change the lump under the bonnet to a proper one

Porsche in. Ford out.

(for info, how much a Porsche in this condition would sell for?)

As said, keep the Ford but get rid of the Vauxhall lump

Unsure what it would make as a retail sale but I have had a trader friend offer £15k for it.

In the trader etc prices are all over the place.

As opposed to what engine, I think this caption says it all?

youd have to either go period or 2.0 cosworth imho.

the XE is nice, but it doesn't belong in there.

I'd get rid of the caption too.

Ha. No offence intended. Can appreciate the work, I'm also sure it's an excellent car. You said yourself that you haven't gelled with the car though, perhaps because it's not the engine that the car deserves. I'd be happy with a Kent 1600 crossflow, even happier with a BDA, or Pinto.

edit - to clarify I'm not trolling you, it's just not what I, or apparently a few others, would choose.

No problems, I don't take offence so there is no issue, it really drives great, I had a cosworth lump in my 106 years ago with the 4wd running gear and it was great but I tend to like crazy cars and this is up there with the rest as its a little different.

Each to there own as they say.

Here's a picture of the 106-

Keep the Porsche but change the 'engine cover' to one without that spoiler....unless it is needed for stability/cooling.

The Escort's cracking - I suspect I'd be well short of the funds required but what kind of price would you be looking for?
