Very nice! smile

Although you did say in a previous thread that you have grown up from liking evos/imprezas, but a Focus RS is ok? wink

Excellent! They really suit the gloss black wheels IMO.

Thanks. Yes, I did say that. hehe

I know. frown The Ford dealer I bought it from did it (would rather they left them kerbed!), but it's the only bad point on an otherwise as-new car. I was going to paint them black anyway, though.biggrin

That's so cool OP.

BTW how does it compare to the previous cars you owned? Such as the R26.r,Clio Trophy or the Mk1 RS.

Great car from what I have seen.

My own expirences:

I have spotted/driven/with/behind/been parked next to a few times now. They are easily the most aggressive looking cars on the road. My (breadvan/facelifted) CTR is certainly not 'muted' in appearance in normal traffic, (personally I think it looks best head on,(i.e in your wing mirror) quite flat sided with a moderate splitter/bumper)

It does however look utterly limp wristed and wimpy when parked next to a RS. I was utterly horrified how much of a difference there was, and how bold and purposful the RS looked.

I have only driven with them on the motorway and they are rapid, 60 to 100leptons+ they are just silly quick (and thats a pretty strong accleration zone for my civic, 3rd/4th )

Enjoy your car buddy, it will always be a big head turner, you should be very proud!

Thanks. In answer to your question:

The R26.R was far more hardcore in terms of your cabin surroundings, but it was also more composed through the bends. The engine pales in comparison to the Mk2 RS's, which is vastly more characterful. Round a circuit the Renault's faster, but the Focus is more entertaining and significantly faster in a straight line.

The RS is a few hundred kilos heavier than the 182 Trophy and it shows - the little Clio can change direction like few other cars, but when compared to the Focus it's extremely outgunned in almost every other area.

The Mk1 RS probably fares the worst against the newer car because the Mk2 does something far worse than just making it feel slow - it makes it feel old, and not in a good way. It's still a great car in isolation, but the game has been moved on.

I'll do a proper write-up on my Garage section once I get the time. thumbup

Thanks for the other comments too, guys. Interesting reading the comparisons with the CTR - I've always fancied a go in one and have never managed it!

I love the look of these.

Don't think I'm brave enough to have the green, would probably draw to much attention for my liking but then its not a car for wallflowers I guess.

2. I then did a few light-based changes. First up was the red fog lamp being swapped out for a LHD reversing light, complete with red bulb. Why didn't Ford do this from new?
Would that be anything to do with the need for a red reflector to go through MOT or are the reflectors built in to the surround of the lights?

Congrats! The correct colour for FRS MkII.

Love the R26.R and Clio Trophy too.

I have to agree with David, also having mk2 RS and Megane R26.R in my garage history (our Meganes were both part of the same initial shipment batch, if I recall)

Although the R26.R was far more composed, allowing consitently quick lap times with relative ease, the shortcomings the Focus has means it requires much more concentration to keep things in check (it can be very much a blunt instrument at times), and because of that I reckoned it actually be more enjoyable on track as it teaches you to be smooth. You could throw the Megane around all you like and it always behaves

Also have to agree the star performer is that 2.5l 5cyl engine, it's just got so much charm. The Megane's power delivery and exhaust note is very dull in comparison (even with the optional titanium system).

I do miss my RS at times, I reckon that powertrain is the main reason.

Okay, one more picture! Went to fill it up yesterday (78 in a Focus!) and under the bright HID forecourt lamps it was quite possibly the greenest thing I've ever seen. This photo doesn't quite capture it, but imagine something even brighter and you're getting there. hehe

Great looking car I like the ug mk2 a lot & I think it's a bit more special in that colour at you can get the blue & white on any focus smile

Interesting comparison with the mk1 I have had the pleasure of driving a mk2 albeit briefly & found them very differant cars in almost every way but I agree compared to a stock mk1 the performance is a lot better & the noise is fantastic.

Very nice.

I have seen a couple of those around my way recently, I never liked the colour in photos, but in the flesh it looks amazing, and there is no mistaking what car it is when it pulls up beside you.

They also sound great which kind of makes me wish I held off buying the 3 MPS Mk2 which while a great car also, just doesn't sound as nice when stretching the right foot.

Okay, first major(ish) mod done! The wheels have now been turned gloss black. Below are some ropey pictures and to be honest it just looks like before except with black wheels, but what the hell. hehe

With 50% more bhp and a huge chunk more torque than a CTR, the RS is going to feel like a rocketship in a back to back drive with a Type R, not because the CTR is slow, but 300bhp is 300bhp - add in a mountune upgrade and you are looking at nearly double the bhp of the Honda, which will really open a gap up.

Totally different driving experiences though, a high revving, fairly light and nimble NA hot hatch next to a heavy weight and heavily blown hot hatch. I went to my Civic after a 270bhp Cupra R 225 because I preferred the incisive turn in and highly strung, screaming engine in the Honda, which is definitely not to everyone's tastes and some people think it's "hard work" to extract the performance from them. Personally, I never get sick of hearing mine wailing away at 8000rpm! I have no doubt that from A/B, the coilovered, stage 2 Cupra R was the quicker car, but less involving than the Type R.

Good luck on the future upgrades, the wheels look ace. I totally agree that black wheels suit the RS so well.
