In October 2010 I bought this, 2004 MX5 1.8i S-VT Sport with approx 26,500 miles.

Came with a hard top...

Loads of fun with nice warm heated seats for the winter wink

The colour is 'Radiant Ebony' which looks quite something in the sun (when it's clean!)

It's all stock, with the exception of a front grille. Bought a 2nd hand style bar for it though, kinda hard to find the right shape due to the rear speaker/windblocker setup.
I got the roof off a couple of weeks ago as the weather was looking good, certainly picked the right time to do it!

Love the car so much, drives beautifully and I totally understand smiles per mile now biggrin

So yeah, hi smile

Hi wavey

Car looks great - really like the colour. Not seen an Mx-5 in that shade before.

Looks like a very tidy car. Normally I'm a fan of the mk1 and mk3's facelift. But this is converting me to like the mk2. Any interior shots? (i spot leather seats). You've owned it for a while now, so how are you getting on with it?

Absolutely love it! Was a private sale and had been very well looked after. I think I'm the 5th owner now but it has only done no more than 37k. Think it has been a garage toy for most of the owners.. but it's a daily drive for me. The bodywork is excellent, no trolley dings at all. The worst are a few tiny stone chips on the front bumper, but that's to be expected for a daily really!

The colour wasn't my first choice, I'll admit, but it has definitely grown on me a lot. The fact that it's a fairly rare colour (Radiant Ebony Mica was an optional extra for 2004 apparently) makes it that little bit more special. Of course though, Mazda recently decided to revive the colour for the mk3.5 and the Mazda2 I think.. still, looks best on the MX-5 mk2.5 .. biased much? Yup.

It drives so well and is really reliable. Love the 6spd. No garage nightmares at all, just 2 fresh tyres this year's MOT and a new cam belt last year. All stuff that was due regardless. Had it undersealed this year as well. I don't live far from Autolink so I'm very lucky to be able to take it there and know they'll do a good job.

I took some interior photos on my phone so I'll upload them tomorrow when I'm at my PC. It is indeed leather, as it is the Sport spec. Heated seats are wonderful in winter!! Also had a style bar fitted today, so will add some shots of that too smile

sits a tiny bit too high.. frown

isn't there a factory option to spec some blitzen suspension which remove the 4x4 look?

Excellent motor thumbup

I have been seriously considering one of these for a long while now. Can you tell me what the difference is between the SVT and the Sport models? Is it just trim? I know these where the models with an LSD... what is it like to get and hold sideways? I assume only really possible in the wet with "just" 145bhp and 205 sections on the rear?

From what I understand, S-VT was on all mk2.5 1.8i cars (2001 onwards).
What the Sport has extra.. the main things:
Front fogs
LSD
Bilsteins
6 spd
16" wheels with 205 tyres
Leather interior
146bhp from factory
270mm "big brakes"
Heated seats

I have to admit that as it's my first RWD and i've never taken it on track, the most slidey action i've had was when my rear tyres were running low turning corners... and also on grass... and compacted snow. I'm a massive wuss (female!) and love the car too much to attempt anything (or prang it into a kerb) on the road. I would like to try some slides, just to learn how to control them, but this would definitely need to be on private tarmac somewhere. It'd be just stupid to try that stuff on public roads. I'm not an 18 year old boy into the whole 'JDM DRIFT YO' scene, out to impress his mates smile
