I don't get why people buy the Trophy tbh. Yes they have nice seats and only 500 made, but they are the heaviest out of all the RS Clios and other than the seats, and a tiny bit bigger spoiler what's so special about them. Can i ask (having owned one) why you decided on the Trophy. I don't have the balls to say this on cliosport as it seems people think they are amazing lol
The suspension settings that were designed for the specific road conditions of the UK were what made it so amazing, iirc. Also, it's a limited edition, so it will always command respect and a premium for it's rarity.

Lovely car smile

Unfortunately I am guilty of reducing the total number of 172 cups by one.

That's a cracking looking Clio, ride height looks just right. I've had my 172 Cup a year now, and although I don't get to drive it much (just over 3K miles in the year), it puts a smile on my face. Massively underated cars, and very reasonable to run, considering the performance.

Cliosport is daft at times. If you don't do things exactly to their taste you get torn to pieces. Another thing with the Trophy is that pretty much all of them have required the Sach dampers refurbishing at an expensive cost.

I never knew the engine could take 8,200 rpm. Thats interesting.

yes, the F4R engine is a very strong lump. a friend of mine had a focus RS Turbo bolted onto it with standard internals and it made 260 bhp. It was capable of more but he wanted it reliable. lol

For starters, they arent the heaviest, that prize goes to the normal 182 wink

The 'specialness' doesnt come from the spoiler, the seats, or the faded pink colour, it comes from the Sachs dampers, rather brilliantly chosen and setup by Renault for both road & track. As someone who runs with V-Maxx, that might be a little lost on you mind though ... tongue out FYI, ive owned a 182 (cup packs), a 172 Cup, & 2 x 182 Trophy's - the latter, imho, are noticeably better.

Re: the Sachs rebuilds, it costs roughly £500 for the front pair. Which when you compare it to the rebuild costs of other proper suspension, isnt so bad. For some obscure reason, people always compare them to standard stuff, instead of high level kit, which with their remote reservoirs, they most certainly are.

Re: 8200rpm. Not sure i'd want to go anywhere near that tbh, i've seen various instances of valves failing at 7.5-7.9k rpm. Sod going over 8k without some serious work lol.

Your cup does look lovely however, although for me, tow straps are a bit gay, & the V-maxx are too soft. I find the standard setup gives a better handling balance, albeit with a more tractor like stance.

Dont get me wrong the Trophy is not a bad car - it just didnt suit me.

Sure the sachs suspension is very good and very well set up, for when you want it to be, but the rest of the time it's just crash, bang, wallop - unfortunately it's the crash, bang, wallop I remember more than anything else and eventually enough was enough. Traded it for an R26, much better package. Maybe i'm not hardcore enough!!

My misses on the other hand loved the Trophy, and wasnt at all pleased to see it go.

I do think the Trophy is the nicest looking of the clios though - always liked the colour, seats, stance, etc - probably why i bought it in the first place tbh + it did feel great on the testdrive - just couldnt live with it long term/everyday.

One of if not the nicest 172 out there, love the little details like the green wheel bolts, the F1 Team stickers etc... I rather like the "Notbothering" and "Snap-Off" stickers, not seen those before.
