How much Saab can you get for £500?
Discussion
Quite a lot it would appear...
It's 2001 9-5 Aero HOT manual-230Bhp, 187k, MOT til Feb 2013, tax til June and has had load spent on it in the last 2 years and Saab history up to 2008. Why so cheap I hear you ask? Well there are a few issues.
Mayo on dipstick
Oil leaks including one from the headgasket
Random noises from rear suspension.
I'm well aware of the PCV/sludge issues on these cars, however it has the latest PCV kit fitted and has had the sump dropped. The mayo wan't too bad when I picked it up and the coolant was fine. I put 300 miles on it over the weekend and it's now mayo free I'm going to retorque the cylinder head and fit a new rocker cover gasket then do an oil change and see how it is.
What a lovely big car to drive tho. Everything works including ice cold aircon and although not amazingly quick these things do hustle along nicely with fairly soft suspension and loads of grip. I may invest in a cheeky remap, apparently I'll get more power and more MPG according to the Saab forum boys.

Remaps only work if you keep off the boost
I get 25-27mpg on my commute (all b-road blasts) and im hoping a remap will up this but if not oh well!
I've got a 9-3 Aero 2.0t so only 250bhp 365n/m torque after a remap
ETA: The commute is done at a sensible economical pace too, push on the loud pedal too much and you can dip into the high teens!
