More of the Packard I believe...
Thanks for posting this picture Yellowbentines,
This was taken before I bought it. The event was the SAVA rally which ran from Gleneagles to Turnberry (or the other way round) in 2010
The white white Rolls Royce with the unfortunate gold wheel discs was formerly owned by Lord Rothschild
Do you have any more photos from this event?
I do, I was driving the DB5 on the day (jammy git that I am), it was from Turnberry to Gleneagles via Loch Lomond & was a cracking day. Thanks for posting this picture Yellowbentines,

As you'll prob guess I used to drive for David and have driven your car on several occasions when he owned it, it really is a wonderful machine with that lovely gearbox with the nice mechanical 'clack' when shifting, and those brakes which are pretty sharp for an old machine! I can't believe he sold it, it was always popular and not a mechanically troublesome car in my time there.
I had the white RR Phantom II for my own wedding, but had the horrid gold discs taken off for the day as I prefer the black wire wheels underneath!
I'll look out some photos, there's also a youtube clip out there.
Ah, its good to know someone else who had had the pleasure of driving the packard. It definitely takes some patience and practice to master it. It all fell into place for me when I realised that you have to change gear at the lowest revs possible to avoid having to spin the flywheel in neutral on double-declutch....
Yes the brakes are very keen. Too keen in fact at the moment as the back left wheel locks up every time until it warms up.
The problem was really that David was using it year round and it was starting to suffer - he said that it was popular for autumn weddings, being red and so ended up being taken out in all weathers. I had to jet wash quite a bit of salt off the underside when I first got it. Since then it has never seen a drop of water!
I have spent probably 1000 hours on it since and spent a small fortune on new parts, chroming, paintwork, carpets, leather and a full mechanical overhaul. There were quite a number of problems with it but they are mostly sorted now.
If you have some wedding pics of the car I wuld like to see them - maybe you can PM me? I've seen the youtube clip of the rally. Theres also this one whe it appeared on a US tv show called "Car Crazy". It was then owned by Malcolm Pray being part of a collection of similar size to David's. Watch the clip from about 8:20 minutes
