Is that a Tim Lane bar that you've ended up with Nick? How tall are you and how easily do you clear it?

The roll bar is a Safety21 (Cusco) steel 4 point. It's very high and snug against the soft top, it now rubs due to the cage padding. With the Sparco seat and helmet on I would say it's about 4 cms above the top of my lid.

Edit: I'm approx 5'10"

Mini Supercharger fitted and working!

Thanks to Nick at Skuzzle Motorsport we are just about there. It runs, goes like the clappers, it pops, it bangs, it whines and it chirps. Sadly the injectors run out of head room at 6,000rpm despite being 1.8 Items so I'm sourcing some RX8 ones. Once they're in and another mapping session we should hopefully see the full use of the rev range as the limiter is currently set at 6,200.

Did some tinkering today. IL Motorsport 40% increase stiffness front ARB links:

Fitted, no pics.

During fitting the charger I had to lose the coolant bottle so ordered a bag instead and fitted and wired that up today:

Next up bigger injectors and the first Autosolo of the year next weekend.

Another day of tinkering. Swapped out the 1.8 injectors for yellow RX8 ones and popped it on the Dyno for a retune:

And the results:

So a rough 190bhp at the flywheel which is a considerable gain over 115bhp at the fly they have as standard.

Now I've got the full use of the revs (was limited to 6200 on the old injectors due to leaning out) it is much, much quicker. Tomorrow is my first AutoSolo of the year so looking forward to trying it out in some competitive motorsport in it's new boosted guise.

Farnborough and District Motor CLub April AutoSolo done and dusted. I finished 13th overall, 5th in class and 3rd fastest in an mx5. Nick of Skuzzle Motorsport was also driving my car and came 9th overall, 4th in class and 2nd fastest in an mx5. He beat me by 10 seconds overall. Pretty chuffed and the car was brilliant all day. Nick even got a trophy. Vids to follow.

I was supposed to be competing in another AutoSolo tomorrow but the car has suffered a complete clutch release bearing failure. I initially thought it was hydrolic related but after changing the slave and master cylinders the problem wasn't improved and actually started getting worse. I knew fitting the charger would eventually kill the clutch but the clutch itself is still holding fine, just a poxy £12 bearing! Really gutted and I have a trackday booked on the 28th as well.

Now I need to decide what the hell to do. The box has to come off so now's the time to put a decent clutch and flywheel from Flyin' Miata in but I'm looking at the thick end of £500 plus labour as I don't have the facilities to be able to drop the box and spend a couple of days on it. So do I go for it and batter my credit or do I just replace it with a standard 1.8 setup saving myself lots of money but risk it not being up to the job for years to come? To make maters worse Flyin' Miata recommend 500 miles run in on their clutch with no full throttle. Not sure how I can get that shipped here, fitted and rack up 500 miles in 15 days!!!!!

So, yeah, not the release bearing then:

Killed that good and proper. The bolt heads have been mullered by the dpring as well. No wonder it was a pig to get a gear.

New Ultralight flywheel:

I didn't get a picture of the 6 puk paddle clutch as we were in a hurry.

Massive thanks to Nick at Skuzzle Motorsport for working a late one last night to fit all this after I finished work. The man is a legend.
