How's the car going? One of these has come up for sale near me for 3k.
It's going really well, thanks, and I can highly recommend them.

Very cosseting and relaxing around town, like an XJ, but then out of town when you put the throttle down it can shift!

Budget for getting the tensioners done if they haven't been done already and also a transmission fluid change and you should be done for many a year. Touch wood!!

The BBS Milans that are on it now are in good shape, I just prefer the design of the Asteroids.

Lovely old thing. Not a fan of the Milano's, on the XK either. Much prefer the Montreal's(?)

My mistake, it was the Asteroids I was thinking of, not the Montreals!

Going in for some paintwork tomorrow - pics will follow.

Just to fix some bubbling at the arches and a couple of marks on the rear bumpers.

Stunning! I have the smaller brother (XJ8) and would love an upgrade to one of these in the future.

Do you have any idea where the ipod connector came from or if possible a make and model?

Great thread, I'm really enjoying following your car and have a wee soft spot for one myself soon

Slightly off topic, interesting screen name my FIL used to do some work with the team and when he passed away we gave most of his stuff to the museum of Scotland. I kept a few pics back and thought you might like to see this

Lester :-)

anyone have any thoughts on how a set of penta wheels painted black would look on a black xjr? i might even dechrome the bumpers, too much do you think?

Thanks for the replies guys. Multi-quoting is a bit too complicated for me, so I'll answer your comments in turn smile

- IPod connection. The previous owner did this - I think it involves a hack into the CD multi changer cable. There is also a powered cradle on the dash which is great as you can choose tracks and look at the sat nav directions etc. You retain the original stereo too, which is good from an aesthetics perspective.

The car is away at the paint shop at the moment, but I'll take some pics when I get back. Here is a link to the Jaguar forum which explains how I think he did it:

- Ecurie Ecosse. Wow, what a great picture! I was in the museum a few weeks ago and they do have some wonderful exhibits. Donating the items to the museum was a great thing to do. I don't have any connection to the team myself, I'm just a keen fan.

- Asteroids. I will send you a PM.

Thanks Guys.

Got the car back from the paint shop on Friday after having the front wings, rear arches, rear bumper and some under seal / rust proofing done. I got the mud flaps taken off too as I prefer the lines without them.

It's looking good. I'm just waiting for new "Jaguar" and "XJR" badges for the boot to finish it off, and I will post some pics shortly.

Cheers! Looking forward to seeing your pics too smile

The new boot badges have arrived for that finishing touch.

Will try to get some decent pics of the car shortly as it is looking pretty sharp.

Very nice, drive past a garage twice a day going to and from work that has a black XJR on the forecourt... Think it's a newer model than yours but is a turbo diesel version, so doubt it sounds any where near as nice as your supercharged lump biggrin

Any recent pics to show us? Is the exhaust subtle and 'OEM' looking or have you gone for some nice big shiny pipework wink

Just back from a long drive this morning, I'd forgotten how good it is to drive.

The paintwork has really lifted it too. As for the exhaust, I went for the OEM look - it's got a nice burble to it.

I am a rubbish photographer and it was still quite dark when I took the pics, but I'm getting a friend who is good with the camera to take some pics shortly.
