Out of interest, what sort of insurance quotes are you getting now following the claim?
Not even checked, I would have thought they will sting me. My current policy runs until end of this year anyway so anything I buy will just mean a small increase in premium. Next year it will probably go bazerk!tranter5 said:
I studied business management and entrepreneurship. I didnt sell any business not sure where that came from, I ran an online fishing tackle business whilst at university which although is fairly small scale I still dabble in it (much to my parents annoyance at a garage full of fishing equipment!). Anywhere I can make money I will, property is where I want to go next but I still feel my capital is better off in the short term in car.
I do not have a traders policy just a personal policy as the cars I post about on here are my personal cars. The cars I buy and sell in between for a living are on a seperate policy.
Yes the jump from the GTR to an R8 V10 at what I will be buying one for is about £20k. Since finishing uni I have literally worked my arse off as I have been waiting 4 years to get uni out the way and be able to earn full time, I am EXTREMELY driven by money! Its these full time earnings that give me that injection which boosts me up the ladder quicker. It started out as just an on the side thing BUT I really enjoy it and am now basing my career on it as it doesnt even feel like I am working when buying and selling cars, I don't use any finance etc as I wouldnt want to live beyond my means as with this amount of money theres a lot of risk. I feel I am going to lose out big with this whole insurance thing but I am going to have to recover from it. The level of margins is awesome once you get to £60k plus. Some of the cars I see and want to buy around this level such as gallardos, F430's have £10-15k margins between buying them and selling them but cars like this to maximise price need to be sold from a nice looking showroom. Which at a charge to me I have the facilities.
seems like a pretty obvious thing to say, but make sure you pay tax on anything you make a profit on over your allowance.I do not have a traders policy just a personal policy as the cars I post about on here are my personal cars. Seems pointless if your on a small scale operation but a friend of mine started selling a car a month, making a grand a month profit to supplement his income and within 4 months the HMRC were crawling all over him.
he paid about £200 tax which considering the high roller tax todging MP's are tax dodging left right and centre is buttons.

Of course its not worth the risk! Seems pointless if your on a small scale operation but a friend of mine started selling a car a month, making a grand a month profit to supplement his income and within 4 months the HMRC were crawling all over him.

Think what you do is great to be honest and by the sounds of things you're a hard working person who deserves the cars you have! I'd love to be in you position when I get to your age.
Hope all the issues to do with the GTR are resolved swiftly

cheers guys hard to make out what The insurance is I had my policy running until December and have reinstated it after the GTR being written off and it was £84 extra! I looked at a few F430's but I didnt want to stretch myself I want to be able to trade a few other cars as well. Been out for a great drive thinking of taking the day off work tomorrow to clay it and get some protection on it.... The motor trade has seemed very slow this week so may aswell make the most of it!
