Why not the 4.2 TDi?

Still a V8 but would be at least £3k a year cheaper to fuel.
And at least another 5k more to buy

I know it's no Rs4, don't worry smile
Seems a good price. Relative high milage for age, but that is somewhat negated by one owner and FSH!

Thanks, stu.

Not for me! Mine was £260 due to being an older car. I believe the crossover is circa 2006.

I'll ask the garage to clarify. Its a 2006 so I will, most likely, be getting clobbered with the big one if I do go ahead.
That wasn't some kind of sexual euphemism, btw!

Thanks Gary. Mrs S is taking the car for the day tomorrow, so I'll find out what she thinks of it after an 80 mile trip. smile

I'm getting rid of 4 and gaining 12 wink haha. Reading about the Essex murders has got me looking at v8 rangies now, too!

Wonderful news! My Dad's Daimler Double Six was one of my favourites as a kid and the Series 3 XJ12 has been on my wanted list ever since. A truly under rated car that will hold it's own against most of todays modern stuff, with a quality of ride that others can only dream of! cloud9

It's the ride that I am buying it for in all honesty. And if I can get into the teens with my 'High Efficiency' engine I'll be quite happy. Try saying HE and 80's V12 in the same sentence without laughing out loud!

75k miles reached today and on the 90 mile drive home this evening, I noticed the A8 has developed a slightly more purposeful growl. ears Only noticeable under load and not audible at all when cruising or at tickover. Probably a slight leak on the exhaust system somwhere. I won't investigate just yet, as I quite like it! hehe

Nothing to report except a slight chirping noise occasionally when going into fourth, which hasn't got any worse in the 25,000 miles I've had the car. smile
