Nothing to report except a slight chirping noise occasionally when going into fourth, which hasn't got any worse in the 25,000 miles I've had the car. smile
Hmmm now at 80K miles - selling at?

And I still can't see a damn towbar fitted yet hehe

laugh I honestly have no idea how much longer I'll keep it for and still look forward to driving it every day, so it won't be for a while yet. Once I've saved a up a pile of cash and get seduced by something newer and faster, I'll let you know Ian! thumbup

Thanks - and I don't mind waiting for the right car

Evening barge followers! wavey
Time for a bit of an update. I haven't posted for ages, as there has been absolutely nothing to report, in a good way!
Time for a service today though, so in she went to my local well regarded VAG specialist, Yelverton Garage. They always get very booked up and with the mileage I do, predicting when the service indicator is going to countdown to zero is always good fun! laugh
With a bit of good fortune and using the ML over the Christmas and New Year break, I managed to get there within 50 miles of when it was due. bow
Mileage was 87550 and as well as the service, I had the front and rear tyres swapped around and had the automatic gearbox oil and filter changed.
The bill came to £661.03 and there were no jobs flagged up that required attention, other than the front pads having a life expectancy of around 5000 more miles.
I'm still really liking the car, which is just as well as I started a new business venture a few months back and consequently funds are still a little bit tight to consider a frivolous replacement just yet! smile
For something that I planned to be a bit of a stop gap, it's all going rather well, touch wood! hehe

Insurance is up for renewal shortly. My broker quoted over £500, so I went on the comparison site I often use and AXA quoted £286. My broker has a price match offer, but I always feel reluctant to give someone the business, when they should have worked harder on my renewal quote in the first place.

Exactly that. I'd fk them clean off. Insurance companies take the clean piss on renewals; that's where they make the most money.

Can't believe I missed this. Fabulous car Mr. S. Great on going report, and the new wheels really do make it look a lot nicer.

My A8 4.2 is a little older than yours (2000 T - older shape)but has now got to 192,000 un-fussed miles on the clock (owned since 20K), of which most of them are towing miles. To be fair now she does not do as much towing any more, but still gets used everyday. The sat nav thinks it is in the North Sea, but otherwise all is well.

On the A8 W12? I had the pleasure of driving one and it was a brilliant. I think it is next on the list when the 4.2 finally cries enough.

I look forward to more updates in the future.

Thanks for the kind words. smile
Running total of expenditure so far is now £3017.97 with the prospect of an MOT looming. frown
There is also a very minor parking indiscretion on the rear bumper and some paint flaking on one of the front parking sensors which will need to be addressed when I can do without the car for the day. Local PHer 'Kidders' will be the man to sort the paintwork. Top notch and very reasonably priced.

I know I still haven't posted the pictures I promised a few posts above. The reason for this is because I don't like taking pictures of my car when it's filthy dirty! Why is it filthy dirty? To cunningly diguise the fact that I've had a little argument with a rather sturdy wooden post! grumpy
So, it's into the body shop a week Monday! getmecoat
We passed another 10k milestone this evening though. driving
