Err - you have a good point but luckily no one took pictures of it on it's roof

If insurance would allow it, this would definitely be my number 1 choice for a luxo-barge.

Looks a good example too biggrin

I've just landed in Derbyshire after 200 miles driving today. There really is not much out there that can come close for the money in terms of looks, build quality, comfort and growl. smile

I didn't realise you can get the S8 in V10 guise... that must sound seriously sexy! Definitely top of my luxy-barge list.

That is the newer version, not the classic D2. The D2 S8 is the same 4.2 V8 as the A8 with forged rods, a different intake, different cams, different exhaust manifolds etc, making another 60bhp over the standard A8.

The S8 V10 is indeed a fabulous car. They are not even particularly prone to costly issues like many such uber barges. They do need a Milltek system to get the best from the V10 in the noise department though, as they are pretty muted as standard.

Ah ... the D3 then... ceramic brakes ... mmmmm http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/a...

I used to own a 4.2 D2. It was a very nice barge but mine had problem with water in the A/C frown

The ceramics were only an option. Quite a few don't have them.

Well V10 engine, Quattro and optional ceramic brakes...definitely top of the list if I were to get a barge. Comfort is fantastic in the A8 and it does the job well.

Nom nom nom. "Performance and diesel centre" though? Does not compute!

Have you tried getting a quote? I don't find them all that outrageous. My A8 4.2 is considerably cheaper for me to insure than the usual hot hatch/rally rep suspects etc etc. Fairly outrageous straight line performance for a big car, superb for cruising and day to day stuff. For all the grunt of the top line luxo-barges, they are quite cheap to insure. Ideal day to day cars.

Upgrade to the facelift-spec single frame grill bumper?

Freshens it up IMO

scratchchin they are fitting a new bumper so I could have a word. Saying that, I do think it looks nice the way it is. Does the newer bumper bolt straight on? Then I'm probably into upgrading rear lights and a few other bits and pieces to stop it looking like a mish mash aren't I?

love the look of one of these, nice car slippery, got me looking at the classifieds as often these posts do smile

this caught my eye, not sure what it'll end up going for but looks cheap for what it is, shame he didn't keep the Galardo wheels as I think it looks 100% better

W12 !!! That's my Jason Statham aka Transporter fantasy coming true :P

Not sure about the wheels but loving the rest of the package. Although saying that if I am buying something like this I would prefer a more factory-specced car.

There are certain things about the description of that W12 that would make me tread very carefully, but there's no denying that if it stacks up, it looks like an awful lot of car. yes
