Great first car - I had a 1.2 Sporting as my first car in 2003.
Aside from the small problem of the six speed box disintegrating, it was a fab car. I was genuinely gutted when I sold it.
Mine makes a crunch when selecting reverse, i find selecting 5th then 6th then reverse cures this problem. Never thrash it and try snap changes, i dont have the funds to pay for it if it fks me over big time.Aside from the small problem of the six speed box disintegrating, it was a fab car. So 6 months down the line, 3600 miles covered (i do not use the car in the week, walk to work which is only 5 mins from home), the Punto is behaving well, had 2 repairs, oil seals for the drive shafts and a new bonnet cable. Overall, i am really happy with the car and enjoying driving. Here is a pic of her with a couple of new friends

Fair enough. I work close to great roads though. I have walked 2.9 miles before, but dislike it unless I have my iPod to keep me entertained.
I still change my ideal first car daily but hopefully it will not be long until I have a thread of my own.
Looking forward to seeing what you buy, i did not expect to get a Punto, it is interesting buying your first car you could end up with something which you had not considered yet think to yourself "why did i not think of this in the first place".I still change my ideal first car daily but hopefully it will not be long until I have a thread of my own.

The Panda (and I imagine Adams Punto since they share the same engine) don't exactly sip fuel. On a side note, Adam what sort of figures are you seeing from your Punto? The Panda generally gets around 35-36mpg town when being driven in town and the highest I've ever had it is 40mpg.
I average about 38 mpg, even if i cane it i can still achieve mid 20's, drive like a nun and 42mpg is achievable. I would not expect it to be brilliant on fuel, it is an old engine, dates back to the mid-late 90's so it is hardly refined for fuel economy. Sounds good though.

I had one a few years ago and IIRC they have solid disks on the front... so if you plan on doing any 'spirited' driving get the callipers & vented disks from the HGT model!
Yes they do "squeak" after a short session of spirited driving.Edited by Janosh on Monday 15th October 11:04

Is that true about there only being two of those facelifted ones left in the UK?
If so, I know where the other one lives, and it isn't quite as clean as the blue one!!
Supposedly, i know of one other one in Leamington Spa, the car in the pics was bought from Scotland. They are extremely rare in the UK now, a few have been exported. If so, I know where the other one lives, and it isn't quite as clean as the blue one!!

Not instragram, photoshop, increased shadows and highlihts, it was an iphone 3 image that was really dark.
Mega lucky you are, bet they sound stunning in the flesh.
It was ace following the facelift, gave it a right bootful and sounded mega. Loads of people stopped and admired both cars, some i dont think could believe they saw 2 NSX's in one place.Mega lucky you are, bet they sound stunning in the flesh.
