hello i have been a long time lurker and finaly got my first car today it needs a bit of looking after and it failed its MOT yesterday so does need some work done but it will be fine but i don't have my full licance yet so i have a month or 2 to get it looking good.
its a 1.6 Honda Civic EP2 in milano red.
i havent yet had time to take any pics so i only have the pics i was given by the seller of the car but they shal do for now smile.

The paint work needs a good bit of work as somone has clearly keyed it and the paint is slightly faded in most areas so it appears pinkish. not sure how to sort it as i cannot afford a respray

I like it

What kind of Insurance prices are you looking at for it? Jap cars seem to be really expensive on insurance.

Especially when you declare the tints and aftermarket alloys.

actualy the insurance for this is surprisingly cheap when i was looking for cars these always came top for being cheap i looked at 1.2 clios and that was going to be £1500 on a provisional even looked at a 1.0 micra (i dident want it i was just checking for the sake of it) the price for that was £2000 for some strange reason but today got the car insured and its only £911 fully comp on a provisional.

I can see the wheel on it and they are still nasty. As a general rule wolfrace wheels are not great, poor quality and terrible designs. Get some standard wheels back on it, or if you have to some oem type r wheels. And not sure of the gangstar tints either.

Other than that its probably a good first car and i'd imagine is much quicker than the 80's 1.3's I learned in!

Type R wheels are 5 stud, so won't fit.

We have a similar car, Civic 1.6 but 5dr auto, it isn't a bad thing at all. Has the timing belt been changed on yours?
Standard wheels would be 6Jx15, with 195/60R15 tyres.

They aren't bad cars, but compared to a Focus the steering is dead.

A good polish might improve the paint somewhat?

Maybe a set of oem wheels from another vehicle then?

Do one. Just... away and do one.

Congratulations, OP. I had one of these, and it's a slippery slope - as soon as insurance allowed I was off to a DC5! Enjoy it - I loved my wee EP2 smile

I think the alloys look alright in terms of style, just a bit small - they don't really fill the arches. I'd lose the tints though. Other than that, nice little car - the 3dr ones of these look so much better than the 5drs, and I've always thought that the red is a fantastic colour on them.

Nice, we bought a Civic runaround..ours is a facelift 1.6

So cheap to run! Never has any advisories on the MOT (ours is very low mileage though), cheap tax, cheap insurance, good 40mpg, cheap motoring! A lot of car for the money now.

I had one of these as my second car but the facelift version. The type r wheels will fit on the facelift but not the prefacelift but there are 4 stud replicas available in a 16" rather than 17".

Get over to epcivic, will give you lots of ideas and the for sale section is great.

There's plenty of things you can do to it mods wise, I had a spoon n1 with decat modded to fit an ep2, aem short ram induction kit, gave it a bit more poke and sounded a lot better.

My insurance was cheap as well, £1200 at 19 with 1 years ncb with all mods declared on my own policy.

Enjoy it smile

i was told that it would need machine polished to bring the paint back to life so not sure how much that would cost. and not sure if the timing belt has been done it was a bit of a strange sale as the guy i got it from had his mate do all the service's and well i have only really checked the cabin filter so far as weather hasnt been that great and lets just say that hasnt been changed in a long time.

what do you mean its a slippery slope? as in once you go honda you never go back? haha i love DC5's i would quite like a EK9 of a FD2 (wishful thinking)

like i said the alloys look alot better when you see the actual car the pics dont do much justice to them. and i agree the 3dr looks alot better than the 5dr i just dont like the rear end on the 5dr. and yea i think the red suits the pre-facelift.

haha well its failed its MOT on a few things and it has quite a few advisories so will get as much as i can sorted my brother-in-law is going to sort the failures and then put it through a mot for me. and yea i alot of car for £1200 i paid was originally £1500 but because it failed mot he took £300 off the price as that's what he was quoted for repairs.

I think it may need lowering before them alloys suit wink Just look at the arch gap! I could get my fist leg in there.
