JulesB said: Wouldnt be seen dead in an MG/Rover, sorry I went from a 2006 MK6 Fiesta to my MG and the MG is miles more fun to drive a lot faster for the same sized engine and has also been more reliable oh and it cost 1/2 as much... I also think it will look better than a fiesta only decent 5 door conversion I know off has a supercharged ST engine fitted into it with a diesel people will just laugh when you start it to be honest. Your best option if you want a diesel is to get the 1.6 tdci zetec S they remap to nearly 130bhp making them as quick as an ST stick some different wheels on and at least it will be a bit more credible even remapped the 1.4's are still slow.

Sell and buy an st. Everything is bolt on bolt off but is it worth the hassle?
Youre worried about high insurance, but it will still be high when you tell then youve done loads of modifications and changed the engine size on the logbook....

This is all getting a touch aggressive isnt it? hahaha, I asked for a bit of advice, I think you should all chill your beans a bit here, the picture is a bit irrelevant surely? It is a boggo fez with a zost+wheels.
The comment about "a bit of tat glued on with some ford badges" - completely off the mark, there will be no glue involved.
Sorry the MG is a terrible car. What is so special about a rebadged rover?

I don't think anyone is getting aggressive. As a site full of car enthusiasts, everyone is trying their best to save you money/time/effort. I had the same thoughts about cars when I was young, but grew out of it.
Fortunately I never went beyond sticking a cone filter on a 1.0 Corsa. Don't let the ignorance of youth blind you. Most of the people on here know what they are talking about (not me included).

Sorry the MG is a terrible car. What is so special about a rebadged rover? Someone has to say it with such blinkered comments like that: 'It is a boggo fez with a zost+wheels.' So it makes it different putting the skirt on too and its not a boggo fez? 'What is so special about a rebadged rover?' Whats so special about a tarted up diesel? Least the MG has all the underlinings of a good car, its just the badge that people don't get, try one out before you have judgement on something. People are suggesting you might want to look at a different car instead of wasting money making a replica of something that is not much more expensive, then you use the same answers people are telling you to defunct the fiesta and MG in the photos... do you know what irony is?

Sorry the MG is a terrible car. What is so special about a rebadged rover? Look at you getting all defensive over your choice of fastening products! You have asked for advice from those with greater experience and knowledge than yourself and just like the arrogant, cock-sure youth you come across as you ignored it. Many of us have been in the exact same position, made the mistake, lived to regret it and are actively trying to help you not do the same. Please don't waste your time on crap cars (A chavved Fiesta FFS! History is supposed to help us prevent mistakes! ) when you could be saving for something worthwhile. Why not just drive a standard econo-box for a few years then buy something really exciting when you hit 21?

Sorry the MG is a terrible car. What is so special about a rebadged rover? We are trying to save you time and money, whilst at the same time getting you a much better car than what you have at the moment. Your 1.4 TDCI Fiesta, will be a boogo fez with ST stuff stuck to it. Anyone who will be impressed by an ST will instantly know it isn't one, and the people who don't care about seeing an ST, won't be impressed or see anything other than a normal Fiesta. So what are you gaining? As per the MG comments, you have clearly never driven one, and if someone gave me an offer of a free MG 1.4 or a Fiesta 1.4 TDCI, I would definitely be leaving in the MG (as would 99% of the people on this forum I'm guessing). Its simply a better car. And only costs the same amount as you are looking to throw down the drain on your tug boat engined car. Its not like I'm speaking out my arse either, I had a MK6 Fiesta Zetec S, and even that wasn't worth spending money on...

Tell us and then we can tell you if its the car that is a lemon or maybe you were expecting it to do something it shouldn't? Sure it wasn't a Rover 214 kitted out to look like an MG?

JulesB said: I have driven one, it was horrendous, hence I didnt buy one and still wont buy one I wouldn't buy one either, but they handle pretty well and are cheap with fairly good engines. With all its flaws the K series is still a decent lump. Either way, enjoy your car, do whatever you want with it, but if you post a thread expect opinions.

JulesB said: Fair enough guys you wouldnt do it yourselves but I would, I guess I will just have to realise my mistakes at a later date wont I? As I said insurance is not a problem and the same goes for the parts. I can spend £5-800 and have it done in the next 2 months Yes I wish I still had the saxo, was my first car had a mk6 petrol fiesta after it but regretted it pretty soon. I can't knock your enthusiasm. Go for it, as you say you'll be able to do it for very cheap. Its not something I would advise but its not exactly throwing obscene amounts of money away and it won't hurt anybody. In response to your "BHP doesn't count" post, heres a link Explanation
