Bodywork OK for age.
Ad-speak for 'borked beyond redemption' I'm afraid.frown
Don't say that, I am living my dream of buying a 20yo french hoon car through this thread rather than having to spend money myself.

But don't you have a perfectly servicable engine that will fit?

hehe
I don't know how interchangeable they are?
Quite easy I imagine, probably a case of a couple of bits.

What size are the alloys?
Do you know if they'll fit a 205? I'm away for the weekend but if they're still about on Monday, give me a shout.
They need a 10mm spacer really, the offset is ET29 compared to the ET16-19 205's run.

This isn't the anti-French troll formally known as VR46 we had on here before. Strange he's only been a member for a month and already pissing people off.

tt.

Update. Just checked Schuey M's profile and looking at previous posts it is him who was trolling PH a few months ago as VR46, BEWARE!

Normal place for 405's to rust, Sills are renound for going rusty under the plastic side sill's, if you remove it you'll find a even bigger hole,
Yes the old Bendix ABS has been removed and a servo fitted and the Mi wheels of that period where 14", Only the late G plate's with revised trim went onto 15" wheels

Most people now fit the GTi6 engine, More modern electronics as the old Motronic (Mi16 bits) are getting on these days, shame as its a good conversion.

Missed out on the build quality of the 205.

Out of interest how much to put this back on the road? I'd donate £25 to the cause if anyone else is game.

After giving the car a proper going over with my mate Rich, I have concluded that it is awesome, and deserves many hours of love and attention.

The list of jobs is as follows.

1. Make drivers door work
2. Transport to Southways Automotive
3. Purchase MOT failure sheet
4. Make passenger door work
5. Prevent precipitation from encroaching on cockpit area
6. Remove gash wheels, kill with fire. Fit original 405 Mi16 15 inch alloys.
7. Replace timing-belt prior to annihilation of 16 large valves.
8. Replace leaking fuel pipe before it kills itself and me with fire (hot fire)
9. Replace front and rear discs and pads
10. Service
11. Fill French holes with metal
12. Purchase cone air filter to bring more noise (most important)
13. Fix remaining MOT failures
14. Take for 2nd test (having missed free retest within 10 working days)
15. Contact Woman to seek forgiveness. Cat misses her

16. Drive of my life

What could possibly go wrong....
Nice Peugeot Gold-Fish bowl you have there... most importantly is that a Munchkin cat? biggrin It's so damn cute cloud9

I like to think the wheels on my car look a bit T16-esque...

Sorry to see those pictures of rot Simon.

Pretty shocking to be honest, most pugs of that era aren't usually that bad. The first thing we did on mine before pressing on with the latest round of spending was get it up to check for rot.

There was none.

I'd have been gutted if there were but would have done the same as you.

As much as I love mine it I don't believe they will ever be worth anything. I'll know for sure in ten years or so as I'm not selling.

Shame for you.

I'll have the wheels off you if you haven't already sold them.

Not even slightly tempted to keep it and save up for the welding costs? A sort of loooong term project.

A lot of work to fix that level of rot, the logical choice is to ditch the shell. If components are good you should be able to recoup a reasonable proportion of costs if you are willing to take the time to split it for reusable parts...
