Scratch built GT40 finally running

Now that it has stopped raining, I did a quick trip to Waihola and back (50 miles) as a test run. Pleased to report that the new parts, including the new throttle cable, all performed faultlessly. The CRC Brake Disc Quiet appears to have done the trick too, with no pad rattle any more. Happy chappy.
I’ve just read this from start to finish and what a great way to start a Sunday morning.
On a differing point, reading it was tinged with a bit of sadness as today would of been the day that we landed in NZ for our planned Christmas holiday to visit relatives and show the beauty of NZ to the kids. Bl**dy COVID !!

A quick spin down to Teretonga (215 km south of me) today to participate in one of the two Motorsport NZ sanctioned events I need to do each year to keep the car’s Authority Card current. It was the first major trip outside the Dunedin City limits since the clutch release lever repair and new throttle cable install in November last year. Happy to report that everything worked as it should under WOT situations.
As usual, there was much interest in the car, especially from the younger set.

My old Audi RS2 is in Christchurch being prepped for road rego.
I'm not in NZ at all at the moment but lived in Dunedin 2009-11 and generally loved the lifestyle. I had a place in Broad Bay and an Audi S3 at the time which was fun to take out to Clutha and back. Doing the same run in a GT40 would be next level...unfortunately I'm a lanky bd so can't fit in one without special arrangements being made for my paddles.

Recently entered it in a local show. Lots of interest, but best in show won by a gorgeous 1931 Cord.
Then went for a 100 mile run the following weekend with the local vintage car club to clock past the 7500 mile mark. Car went well, but oil pressure gauge reading low. Did a check with mechanical gauge and oil pressure just fine, so an electrical gremlin. Gauge and sender both check out OK, so likely high resistance in the wire from the sender to the gauge. Will replace when I get some spare time and see if that fixes the problem.

A little over 12 months have gone by since we last took the GT40 on a major outing. On that occasion we lost our clutch 730 km into the 2000 km journey (clutch release shaft sheared off) and had to get trailered home (see above). So, when the opportunity arose to test out the re-fettled clutch set-up by undertaking a new adventure, I could not resist.
1206 km (750 miles) over two days on some great driving roads with 58 other rather nice cars.
