Hi All First of all, I'm new here, this is the first thread I've started Just thought I'd post a few photo's of my, or if we're being strictly accurate, the old man's, new car. Its a Corsa, 1.0 Ecoflex, never going to set any track days alight, but thats not what its meant for! Only passed my test and picked it up a fortnight ago, clocked up about 170 miles, but i'm still getting to grips with driving, and it! So... Apologies for the dubious quality photo's, I'm no professional snapper! Thanks for looking

Looks a good little runaround. I am currently taking lessons and had another today so I am always looking at possible first cars. Enjoy!

Cheers guys Much as its always in the back of my mid just to add a sticker or two, I will be leaving it as VX intended it, only non factory mods so far are parking sensors, and a 'no smoking' sign, kindly affixed whilst with the previous owner (a franchise dealer) A mate of mine has a 12 plate Limited Edition, similar to below, and I have to confess I'm very taken by its wheels, but I dont fancy a) The cost. b) The ruined ride quality c) The risk of curbing them d) Informing the Insurance Company...

Seeing so many people go for new corsa lately and I can't figure out why, don't have anything going for them from what I can see, learnt in a one and didn't like the way it drove at all, can I ask why you went for that instead of a kia rio, fiesta, clio?

Nice little car You see those special editions everywhere prefer yours to be honest as they are all just all snow no go and hideously overpriced for what they are compared to a standard one like yours

Well I guess it rather depends on your primary needs, perhaps if I'd been more focused on style, sportiness etc, I might have got a Polo or a Fiesta. But as it is, my biggest concern was insurance, and the only cars that could compare to the 1.0 Corsa was an Aygo or a VW Fox.
And cheers gents, I'll agree that ultimately, everything you add won't increase the value, perhaps even decrease it! Those rims cost a small fortune too, plus obviously the possibility of damage from potholes, not something I fancy!

Looks nice mate, as for the alloys I'd leave it but you should have a look on corsa D UK if you get stuck with anything etc.

Fair enough must be why there is so many 1.0 Corsas about, rather have that than an Aygo or Fox that's for sure

decent first car or should i say daddy's car
Can;t say i'm a fan of parents buying their kids cars
They should be made to work for it then they appreciate it a lot more, and have a value of money

Looks like we took two very different solutions to the insurance problems haha wish you many safe and fun miles buddy!

They should be made to work for it then they appreciate it a lot more, and have a value of money That is such a t ttish comment. First of all, I see no issue with parents buying there kids cars as long as the kud pays them back. I'm sure that like myself and most other people in life, you have taken out a loan from the bank at some point for what ever reason. So by your reasoning, you yourself have no value of money, correct? Secondly, I see no mention of the OP's Daddy buying him this car? For all you know, he could of bought it cash in hand with money he earnt from a f king paper round! People like you piss me off. You are nothing but a spiteful, jealous little gob s te!! @OP. Sorry for ranting. Nice little car you got there! Look after it, and don't prang it! It will be tough sometimes driving that desperate for something quicker, but give it a year or two of safe careful driving, and you will be able to move onto something quicker. A nearly new Corsa is a nice car for your first one!

Nothing wrong with that car. It looks nice IMO.. Just keep it nice and clean! I've driven the 1.0 in the Corsa C and yes it's slow but still enough to get into trouble with.
Nothing wrong with kids parents buying cars for them. I dont have kids yet but if I could afford to buy them a safe modern car I certainly would do! It would be subject to weekly inspections though so it doesn't end up a skip.

I have a nice car, house ,possessions every single one of them I have honestly earned without it being thrust in front of me by mummy and daddy. I went to uni and worked my b ks off to get where I am today. I know people that got everything hand;t to them on a plate and now they can't stand on their own or do anything for themselves always paying other people to do even the basic things in life.So as a result they have f k all value of money and are in a mountain of debt.

I think we should focus on the car, instead of the finances as it doesn't really matter how he has it, just that he has it and he seems a down-to-earth guy so can we just carry on talking about the Corsa.
