Just done a little more minor stuff.
I back to blacked the A pillar area, which was a little worse for wear
And I did the same on the door handles
It's the little details that matter

Good story! 2.5TD was actually a 4-pot motor taken from the PSA range of vans. It was ancient and not terribly great! The 2.1TD was a good engine, but was still only 110bhp or so. Mind you, in those days that was acceptable in the class.
Really? Well, it wasn't fast in any sense of the word but because it felt heavy and it was my first auto-box (all my own subsequent cars have been autos - this one confirmed what a great idea an auto was for me with the amount of commuting I do annually), it had a sense of "inevitability" about it's acceleration - as though nothing could stop it.S10GTA said:
Totally pointless you say?
What about glass inside glass?
The official reason for the 'inside glass' was to protect the rear seat passengers from wind and rain whilst the tailgate was open. What about glass inside glass?
That is even more pointless and eccentric than the electric arm wrest, but brilliantly French
great car!
i had an xm estate years ago, it was a monster of a thing, much loved, its party trick was the passenger front seat, which, if the buttons where pressed would simply motor its self (and the unlucky passenger) into the dashboard like a terminator. the only way to stop it and reset it was to turn the ignition off.
all my mates soon learned not to press the buttons!

An electrically operated armrest? Seriously? An electric armrest?
I need an XM just so I can sit on my driveway playing with it (the armrest that is).
"Darling, fancy a threesome with Kelly Brook and me?"
"Not now dear. I'm playing with my armrest."
Brilliant. An electric armrest - who'd have thought it. I think we need electrically operated grab handles next.

When I was in primary one, my teacher had one of these. Even at age 5 I knew she had made a good choice.
Between the tailgate glass and the electric armrest I completely love it. There's an R-reg Series 2 XM lives in the car park at the bottom of my road, looking ever rustier by the day. It makes me happy that there are still loved and cherished examples wafting about the country

I so nearly bought one of these, but went back to Lancia (my perennial weakness). The one I looked at was a late PRV engined model. It was epic. I don't recall the electric armrest though. The rear hatch double glazing was an interesting feature.
Well done OP, far far cooler than the 405 BTW!
