Nice little Sunday afternoon read. Enjoyed that. Shame about some of the bad luck though.

Glad you enjoyed it.

I took a deposit on the Eunos this morning, it will be collected next week.

Looking to get a new run around with a budget of £1.5k max. Any suggestions? Looking to get a manual petrol, engine size isn't too much of an issue. Just want to ensure the car is reliable.

I know my luck hasn't been great, hopefully moving forward it will change in a positive direction!

Last weekend I was talking with my friend who has a lovely EK9 about what I should purchase next. He told me to look at Honda Civics and try to look for a standard example. So I begin browsing Autotrader, Pistonheads, eBay, Gumtree etc.

I then come across a 1993 Honda Civic 1.5 Lsi with only 34,900 miles on the clock for a very cheap price. Decided to go and have a look and ended up putting a deposit on it. Collected it on Friday night and here it is:

It's a bit beaten up on the exterior, but the interior is mint and the car drives very well. Will be servicing it myself next weekend and plans are just to tidy up the exterior, change the speakers as they are shockingly bad and thats about it. I don't want to get carried away and start modifying it like I did with my Golf!

So it has been a while since I last updated this.

I was commuting to work on the 125 and the Civic was only really getting used on the weekends. During last winter, I wasn't enjoying the commute to work on the 125, I didn't feel safe on it due to the skinny tyres and poor brakes. January 2016 I decided to do my DAS, passed and then bought a Honda Hornet 600 to commute on:

I finally managed to get onto the property ladder and moved into the new place in March. I was using the bike the majority of the time and the Civic was just sitting there so I decided to sell it.

A few pictures after I had it detailed:

One to show how mint the interior was:

Then fast forward to last week, the itch returned to get a MK1 MX5. I viewed two which needed a fair bit of work so I decided to increase my budget to get a better example.

I then picked up this on Sunday:

It's a 1996 MK1 1.8 Eunos and has a few modifications which I appreciate may not be to everyone's taste but I really like it. The previous owner has really looked after it and it drives really well.

My immediate plans are to get the rust sorted on it (it's quite minor but would like to tackle it now before it gets worse) and to change the clutch.

Future plans would be to upgrade the brakes, change the wheels and a roll cage as I want to use the car for track days.
