Well, 12,000 miles came upon the car pretty quick.

Just booked the car into Renault for its 1st service.

Next trip to bump the mileage up is a nurburgring trip, this will be organised in the new year.

To say I'm exited is an understatement. Hopefully all 4 tyres will need changing by then, gives me an excuse for semi slicks to head over there in the summer smile

That is all for now

Just a little update,

My Continental sportcontact 3's have seen the end, with just shy of having 10,000 out of them. Which I think was really good.
Hi, I also have a Clio200 Cup but have to say I am always amazed at how little mileage other owners get out of their tyres.

Like everyone else my '200 came with Conti SC3's.
15k I swapped front to rear.
27k Front tyres replaced with new SC5's
30k (wednesday) I replaced the rears with SC5's...

All tyres have worn evenly and were inside the legal limit at time of replacement.

Have you done many track days? What pressures to you have yours at?

That must be a world record for an RS Clio!

I run my Hankooks at 35psi all round as I do mostly motorway miles; my fronts lasted 13k and the rears have hardly worn from when I replaced them last December.

I never dream of swapping tyres back to front. Leaving tyres on the rear will last longer. In my opinion, it's false economy swapping around. Plus the rear then having less grip than the front. Not nice handling.
The tyres are worn to how the rear sits, then putting them on the front, they wear quick, and out of shape from how the front camber is.

These will last 25K on the rear anyway, so I just leave them there.

My pressures are run 34 front, 31 rear.

My commute consists of mountain roads twists and turns all the way. I drive the car enthusiastically now and again.
I thought 10,000 miles was pretty good for the front tyres.
It is was summer I could have had more mileage out of them, maybe 1-2K more before wearing them down beyond the markers. But my commute, and time of year. I stayed safe and put new ones on.

I will get more out of these tyres, maybe 13-14K, from driving slower through the winter.

Why so against swapping thectyres? Its rather simple, and by no means unsafe!

Car starts with four matching tyres, lets says GSD3's. The fronts get worn, you throw the worn GSD3 away and put the rears onto the front. You then buy two more GSD3's and put them on the back. They then go on the front once the other two have worn out.

Et voila! 4 matching tyres with even tread depths. Plus it means you can spread the cost as you only have to buy two tyres at a time. smile

Not that way, I took it he was putting the worn down front onto the rear?

The way you mention it is fine.

He mentioned swapping the front and rears around at 15K

Yep that's exactly what I do, I swap them when the fronts are half way through their life. I then replace all four at around the same time, 3k difference in this case.

I wouldn't use this approach to Rwd or 4wd though.

+1 New rubber on the wheels that do the steering, accelerating and braking. On 24k now with original rears but about to need my 4th set of fronts.

Spending £300 on new rubber just for the rear is bonkers.

Just an update,

Bought gloss black paint for the winter wheels. They'll be getting painted in a booth on the weekend.
Having issues uploading pictures atm. Trying to sort it. The wheels are currently satin black, not to my taste.
Just have to put some winter tyres on them then, soon as there's signs of snow, they'll be on 8)

Will put pictures up asap

Yes, I didn't even need to haggle the price. They were a good buy.

Nice fresh paint on them now and they'll look great.

People keep asking me why am I using 'cup' wheels as winters. so that's a bonus that not many know they're cheap Laguna wheels.

Even as a Clio 200 owner it took me a minute to spot they were Laguna wheels!

Nice looking car pal.

Do you know if the Laguna wheels have the same offset as the Clio wheels?

Glad your still loving the ownership experience as we are too being that we bought the same car at roughly the same time. We have only got to 6k miles with ours - not without a few bumps in the road though :

The lumpyness continues on cold start to the point where in 2nd and 3rd gear on gently throttle the car chokes up and virtually stalls. Only thing to do is de clutch and free wheel until it passes.

The emissions light came on the other day whilst at 70 on the M25. No change in how it drives and the petrol in it was from the normal place ( Shell )

The aircon has been really noisy.

Just got it back from dealer ( again ) to try and sort above issues and it feels smoother after a full ECU reset. They couldnt tell me why the emissions light came on.

Any problems with yours ?

Hi there! smile

Glad your enjoying yours too!

Mine has just turned 13,000 miles today. Just can't seem to get out of it. Plus my work commute is pretty large anyway.

I had the lumpiness issue like all others, switched over to shell vpower super unleaded. And touch wood, the lumpiness has gone.
The only time I have the issue, is maybe once a week on a cold morning now. I just leave the car idle for 1 minute and it goes. But by the sounds of it, yours is much worse when it does happen?

No issues to report back.

This is why I'm glad of warranty, takes all stress off you, just book the car in and leave them sort it.

This is why they were the perfect choice for a winter wheel, by looking so like the speedlines.
Thank you smile loving the car.
The Laguna wheels are ever so slightly wider apparently, but it is ever so slightly.
They'll do perfect for running snow/winter tyres on and maybe a set of semi slicks in summer if I ever get tempted to go on track too.
AND a spare wheel one will come handy for my nurburgring trip next year. It's almost a must for a second set of wheels.

Definitely feels worse the colder it is. At about 2.5k revs the car splutters so much so that it virtually stalls sometimes. Its embarrassing and cant be predicted every time. Like you say though , its all under warranty and the garage is a 2 minute walk away so it just gets thrown back at them. I dont drive it regularly, ( OH`s car )so tend to forget about it until it happens again !! I think she has learnt to live with it.
