Oh. Dear. God.

You Sir, are what I love in the UK custom car scene!

BRB, Just gonna drop an Espace on my Lexus! Mental!

Does this age Espace run plastic panels?

Are you going to brace and jig everything nicely?

Mental isn't it!

Book marked!
Mental indeed. Why focus on stripping weight from a car you aren't going to use?
Because...

After seeing a 'body' transplant on a tv show where the running gear and floorpan of a new car had the body of an old car transplanted onto it , this route has been favorite (thanks rhinochopig)
Yea, just saw that before reading your post! The results should be good.

hi, yes all the panels are plastic except the bonnet which is steel (?? guess because of the heat ??????), i will need to find a way of jigging both cars in a way so one can be "slotted" on top of the other and then secured in place before removing some of the jigging. Probably easier said than done but by no means impossible

SO IT BEGINS !!

Taken the car off the road today to start the big work , it was just 1 last chance for a drive so tried to get a good video off it accelerating , not great quality but you get an idea of the sound and acceleration, hopefully the next time its driven and i hear it like this it will look very much like a renault espace .

Love this whole hairbrained scheme! Kudos to you, Sir.

Also, great noise coming from the Lexus.

That's a great noise! I bet even Lexus don't know they can sound like that!

It's obvious isn't it, like a defender 90 shell on a cut down rr chassis this chap is going to weld the espace upper to Lexus chassis?

Any other possibilities?
A Land Rover uses a ladder chassis and the body is bolted on and not part of the main structure. The Renault and Lexus a monocoque construction. Which is rather significantly different.

What a barking mad thread!! Brilliant!! It's just what we need when these bloody eurocrats appear to be trying to ban us from even changing the tyre valve caps on our cars!! Love to see this thing registered & running!!

Can I ask how you disposed of the airbags? The only advice I can find on the net involves blowing them up! I don't think the household management will let me do that to the two bloody things that my son has left in my garage following his abortive attempt at rally preparing his Ibiza Cupra...!!

Cheers

That looks like the TH Automobile TH2RS. A VW T5 with a 780hp Porsche Turbo engine in the rear.

Totally bonkers.
My dream garage has their TH2 in it. Based on a VW T5 Caravelle and has a 480hp Porsche Turbo engine in the back.

Could be the ultimate family Q car.
