If you're keeping the ground clearance as is, are you thinking about the wheel arches (widening them, or using smaller wheels)?

Were you able to steer at all with the front wheels sitting so tight in the wells?

Work is still continuing but there is very little to show , I have basically been attaching everything properly , bumpers sills etc , they are now held on with bolts and brackets rather than tape and tie-wraps !
The front seat belt mounts are very nearly complete and some interior trim parts are back in , on the exterior I have vinyl wrapped the door trims and will be fitting them all soon .
I have added 2 silencers back on the exhaust system and just about completed the 'engine cover' .

Before and after side repeater trim

This is probably a very easy to answer question but it just occurred to me: what do you put this bizarre and amazing conglomerate down as in your insurance policy?

It's just an LS400 with a bodykit, any fool can see that!

Red Victor gets away with 'a Vauxhall with slight modifications' biggrin so I don't see any problem here!

As a vehicle that is an amalgam of two donor vehicles, surely both?

The real question is whether or not it is deemed to be so heavily modified as to require an SVA and a Q-plate.

I woukd have thought it would stay as a Lexus. Original suspension, brakes, gearbox, engine, etc. Just the body has changed, effectively.

I believe it's a 'points scoring' exercise.

So long as the majority of the components come from one particular make/model of car, (and you can prove it!), then the reg' doc' goes with that.

As it's on Lexus running gear, (the majority of the components), with a 'bodykit' then I would guess it's still a Lexus LS400, with 'mod's'.

Still cool as fk though! smile

Tax wont be far off provided the donor lexus was before 2001, which judging from the wheels it was.

Indeed. That's kind of what I was getting at although I admit I wasn't very clear.

Nope, because the monocoque shell's been modified, so it's automatically straight to IVA regardless of points.

Get a ‘Q’ registration number

You won’t be able to keep your vehicle’s original registration number if 1 of the following applies:
  • it has fewer than 8 points
  • it has a second-hand or altered chassis, monocoque bodyshell or frame
  • there’s evidence that 2 vehicles have been welded together to form 1 (ie ‘cut and shut’)
Your vehicle must pass the relevant type approval test to get a ‘Q’ prefix registration number.
I think that last one is the clincher here...

Fair point, well made.

I'm fairly sure he won't have a problem with the IVA though considering the effort and skill that's gone into it.
