Lexus V8 with NOS in a Renault Espace - yeah lets do it !
Discussion
On the gtr.co.uk forum, under R35 projects is SVMs project, gtr running gear with a Quasqui body. piston heads have done a feature on it, but there from page 30 covers the registering issues. To my untrained eye seems very similar. Love both projects, but this more so as not being done by a garage.

http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/175782-svm-release-project-qashqai-r-30.htmlBrief summary :-
"I run an MOT garage, so I know everything there is to know about it. It's legit, and it'll only need an MOT in 3yrs. Honest."
"I asked the VOSA bloke doing an MOT check-up about it. He didn't know."
<a month later>
"They've said it's OK, and put the R35 engine number & capacity on the Qashqai's V5C, leaving the Qashqai's CO and tax band..."
Well, whoop-de-doo for him. But that directly goes against what's on the Gov't websites. Which begs the question... Did an individual happen to just put the changes through without understanding the actual regs, or is the available published information wrong? I know which I think's the case. I hope it doesn't come back to bite him.
I hope the Lexspace can be similarly simply registered. But - also - bear in mind that was a brand spankin' Qashqow and near-new Skyline.

This is probably a very easy to answer question but it just occurred to me: what do you put this bizarre and amazing conglomerate down as in your insurance policy?
It's just an LS400 with a bodykit, any fool can see that! The car is a Lexus in every respect. Before SVA, E-SVA and the clusterfk that is IVA this would have been registered as a Lexus special.
Using the still current DVLA points system this is still a Lexus in every respect and I don't think that it has any Renault points at all.
Whether it needs to be tested due to the changes to the monocoque Im not sure, but itll still be a Lexus.
Insurance will be less straight forward, but it should be cheap.

I also read through the GT-R thread and the drama from page 30 was interesting.Brief summary :-

To me it seems to be a GT-R with a QQ body on the top so amazing that it maintains the QQ details and Co2.
I also wonder why the QQ was registered in the first place (other than for the dealer to record it as a sale) given that it was destined to be broken up.
Given that the guy who did the conversion had VOSA in to look at the thing, whatever they decided is 'official' I guess.
Hopefully his command of spoken English is better than his written. If I see one more 'hear' instead of 'here' on that thread...

I read that as well and had no idea what he was on about.I think he meant "surreal".

Ending sentences with 'lol' should be banned on that forum although they would end up with almost no posts.
