Still on the original ones!! No real engine movement, so not been changed as of yet. Will probably put some Vibratechnics ones on if i keep it though. I do have a Powerflex Dogbone mount though - if only to improve the throw of the gearstick slightly.

It shows how little strain long drives put on cars when you consider how knackered some of the older 172s with more miles under their belt are.

How many of those miles did you put on? Over 20k a year in one of those isn't my idea of sensible!
I am doing about 500 miles a week at the moment and its fine smile
They do 40mpg on a run and for a hot hatch do ride quite nicely its a far smoother ride than my MG ZR was for example.
40mpg is pretty good given the car is a little stormer!

That's really a great balance between performance and economy.

I've always liked these little cars.

That was my motivation for buying one too. Great combination of performance and economy.

And although I've undoubtedly been really unlucky, its worked out terribly for me. The car has utterly decimated my wallet with repairs. Its no wonder they're really cheap TBH, because the frequency of problems is (for me at least) very high, and some of the repairs are very expensive.

I was going to buy a Subaru Impreza instead but ruled it out due to poor fuel economy and high insurance; I wished I had now, TBQH, it would have been cheaper to run!

If it makes you feel any better my Impreza costs a lot on fuel and insurance and has had a lot spent on it in maintenance although I knew my car needed some work when I bought it.

Impreza - Great performance, horrible running costs but I wouldn't change it for anything!

I am mate. Had a bit of a sabbatical last year but am waiting to be posted any day now. Who knows where.

Yup, bought an S2 (there's a thread on readers cars somewhere). It's fantastic! Needed pretty much a complete suspension/brake/top end overhaul when I bought it but got it very cheap so factored that in.

You and Sarah still near surrey-ish?

That was done last September at Charlies place (SRR) so its not a pub figure either!!
Dyno Dynamics RR - known between a few mappers as a 'Heartbreaker' because of their accuracy!

Really nice car, my friend had a trophy on about 80k but it had been clocked back to 50-something by a previous owner frown said friend was too daft to read through the history!
