As the metro is off the road, I needed something which was comfy for my drive to work and did at the very least, the same mpg as the metro used to get. After searching for a couple of weeks and looking at quite a few cars(some rougher than others) I settled on this:

The car is a 1999 Vitesse Sport, only 58 left on the road and has the 200bhp T series turbo with LSD and electric everything including climate control and sunroof! Costs me £600 a year insurance and is comfy enough for work as well as having a nice turn of pace when needed.

You are Alan Partridge AICMFP! Seriously, that's a decent amount of metal for the money and not many survive, so fair play to you for finding a decent one. Makes a change from old Beemers like we see on here usually.

Lovely cars and great engine!

I'd a 220 GSi Turbo with that engine and then subsequently a 620 Ti with the same engine.

Boy, could they go!

He didn't. But what would you pay for a 14 year old Rover? (no offence OP)

There ya go.

I would say probably as much as an equivalent BMW or Merc, given its relative rarity, so technically, not so much of a 'bargain'.
Perhaps the OP will tell us, so we can see who is right? *scratches beard in anticipation of putting one over fellow PHer* *evil laugh*

I had an 820SLi (no turbo), same shape put 180k miles on it with few issues. It was supremely comfortable and a great mile muncher!
Good luck with it!

It's a handsome beast. Quite fancy one of these, bit different but I'm not sure I'd be able to handle all the Partridge banterlaugh

Just sold my 2001 3.0 S Type Jag today. Could be very easily tempted into something like this if i could find one local!

You know, that doesn't look half bad. Decent power figure, leftfield choice and sporty looks, rarity factor - it definitely has it's fair share of "cool" in a strange way!

Haven't seen one of these for years. Looks like a tidy example OP.

This is seriously cool. Love the mix of classic Rover luxury (wood interior, yum) and sporty performance. Yes, a very good buy indeed. It also look great in the photographs. I do like a good night photograph!
